... it's official!

This is so crazy! I booked my flight last night so everything's starting to become so "real". I'm pretty satisfied with my connections and everything. I had to put it on my mastercard. I don't have enough to pay it off but I do have a portion. I'm pretty satisfied with my efforts so far. Considering I have only really been selling stuff and trying to get money for about a month I do have a nice chunk. Anyways. I'll be posting any updates on my "chip in" account too~

I'm kind of crazy when it comes to home security. I always make sure my doors are locked in the middle of the day, I'm always watching and looking around for anything that may seem out of the ordinary. I think it's important to be that way because you never know what could happen! I wish I had a security system - but most apartments don't. At least I have a billion locks on my door - that makes me feel safer. I think security systems are awesome because they give you that extra feeling of comfort. I think they are extra wonderful for the elderly because sometimes they can be a target of crime.

giving etsy some lovn'

So I spent quite a bit of time working on my etsy shop a little facelift. I made a new banner - I don't know if I can completely satisfied with it though - I may make a new one. I listed a few pendants and will continue to do so throughout the week! The more the merrier right? I'm pretty content with the way it's looking. I'm going to go to the art store today and pick up some canvas and paints. I'm getting pretty low on some colours. And I got a gift certificate from my parents so I might as well go buy a few things with it! I'm almost done a comission painting - I'll post it soon!

painting crazy!

I was looking at some indoor and outdoor lighting online. I really want to invest in a nice floor lamp for my art room. I have some commission paintings to do and it's hard to paint when it gets dark. Troy and I put together my new easel that he bought me - it's so cute. I'll post a photo of it sometime this week. It's so helpful when doing large paintings. I started a commission one last night. And I have two more to do that I am going to try and start this week as well! :)

Help me get to Kenya!

I created a chipin account so if you want to contribute to me going to Kenya it would be greatly appreciated!
I created a website there too to check it out go HERE!!!

Almost 2009

It's almost 2009. Christmas was lovely and I kept myself very busy. I had a little get together with some friends last night and it was a lot of fun. I'm now back in the city and going to be hanging out for a few days doing some painting. The craft show is slowly coming together - I'm going to work on that and do some more planning for Kenya tomorrow. Now that i'm back "home" I'm going to try to be productive and get some things done where I can't find the time when I get back to work. January is going to be super busy! Here's another picture of Esme (licking Elliot!) They are just too cute!

shopping online

Shopping online is an addition. For me anyways. I find that even though you have to pay shipping - most of the time you end up paying less than what you would in a store. It's even better when you find a sale or two and those are common around this time of year; after Christmas. I'm thinking about ordering some stuff for Troy that I couldn't get before Christmas. He never reads this so he'll never find out! muahahah! So far (knock on wood) i've had great luck with shopping online. Everything's come through clear for me. Shipped in a decent amount of time for a great price. I had going to the mall so this is all so perfect for me!

Bed dreams.

I need a new bed. I can barely sleep on it because it hurts. Isn't that awful. I sometimes search around like at those sleep number beds. Those things are awesome. Anything I think would be better than what I have right now for a bed. I feel bad because Troy goes and sleeps on the futon most of the time. I am going to have to invest in a decent bed sometime. Maybe after all my trip stuff is over with and I save up a little bit of extra money. Sounds good to me :) Bed bed bed!!

Merry Christmas!

What an interesting Christmas this has been! Everyone to my Best friend to strangers have been really supportive of me and my trip in April! Troy's mom is out of the hospital from having heart surgery on Friday so everything's looking up. I'm also looking forward to having a few more days off before having to return back to work! yay!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! All the best!

I always see commericals for motorcycle accident attorneys, and car accident lawyers and all that jazz. Troy told me last night that sometimes his rib STILL hurts from our car accident in the summer time. Craziness. Sometimes my leg still pains like it did after the accident but it doesn't happen very often. I think it is important to have a good lawyer if something really bad happens to you. Especially if drinking and driving in involved :P

I always forget how funny kittens are. She goes crazy and is super playful then falls right to sleep for 20 mins. Yay!

Ever since i went to las vegas when i was 13 my mother has been all about the Vegas vacations. She said that i should go there for my honeymoon! haha! I would realllly love to go to Ireland. I'm going to start saving in the spring for that I always feel that I'm saving my money for all these different projects. It's madness!

It's fun though. I sent out the applications tonight for the craft show and I hope that i get a decent response. :)

halifax crafters

So this weekend I'm selling my pendants and some small art works in halifax at the halifax crafters handmade market. I go back tomorrow for a few more hours. Today went really well! I sold quite a few things and met a lot of really interesting people. So i'm really looking forward to going back tomorrow and seeing what happens. I've never done a 2-day craft show before so it's been really exciting! :)

So i found this cheap lingerie website. I don't know how i find these things. There are so many sales this season - due to the "economic crisis" i suppose. I went the rally to support the canadian coalition the other day. It was so intense- people yelling and booing and cheering. It was awesome. I have a sign now that says "Coalition Yes: Make Parliment Work" in my window now. I wonder if i'll get egged?

Winter Craft Show

February Winter Craft Show

I’m holding a craft show on Saturday February 7th, 2009 to help me fund a volunteer trip to Africa in the spring. If you are interested in getting an application form to have a table at the event, I will be e-mailing out application forms within the next little while. Email me at if you are interested!

winter tires?

I keep going back and forth with selling my car. I live in a city, so do I need it. I like the convience - is that too much to ask? I like that i have cheap auto insurance right now. Thank goodness for not getting into an accident (knock on wood) so hopefully it will just keep going down from there. :) Whoopie!

I don't even know if it would be worth selling. I wouldn't even get that much for it. I might as well just run it into the ground - that's my way of looking at it. I need to get winter tires MAJORLY. That is on my TO DO list for this week! Ahh

ciao! goodnight!

to do: everything

It's almost December! You know what that means. Craziness.

I went to the mall today. I dont' know what I was thinking. I hate the mall - and dislike shopping and spending money in general. I do have a craft show next weekend that I'm looking forward too because I will hopefully buy some Christmas gifts there at the show then a general stress will be lifted. Life just seems so crazy lately and my "to do lists" seem to be getting longer and longer.

rid 'o that

It's tough to find the top acne treatments. I know I have, and friends of mine have been searching for years for the top ones - but nothing really seems to work. This is a pretty awesome ranking site - so check it out if you are looking for treatments too.
Anyways. Things have been pretty busy lately. Work is busy busy busy, Kenya stress, Christmas stress. Lots of stress. I am almost glad for Christmas to be over. I hate the consumerism (spelling?) of it all. It is going to be nice to have a few days off though.

The Tree that Loves

Yesterday I was stuck inside all day because of the SNOW! But I painted a few sets of earrings, some pendants and THREE ACEOs done. This is one of them which I titled "The Tree that Loves". I plan on taking it to my craft show that's in two weeks. I am going to try and paint a few more to take, as well as some smaller canvas paintings, some more pendants and earrings THEN I will be ready! I do the next 2 weeks to get ready so I'm not too worried -yet! :)

I found this review on Fenterdren which is a new diet pill. I think you really have to be careful with that sort of thing. It's nice that you can find reviews on all sorts of things online when it comes to diet pills, movies, books, everything! I've been trying to do some Christmas shopping lately so it's nice to come across many reviews on things before buying.

Now that I'm offically accepted into the volunteer program to go to Kenya - major planning is going into effect.

I need to fundraise. Or start fundraising rather. I am trying to organize a craft show in February. I'm thinking about having it the weekend before Valentines day - and have it on a Saturday. But Valentine's Day is on a Saturday. So do I have it on Vday or the Saturday before? Will people sign up on Vday? I don't know if people shop about a week before or not. This is such a random post. I'm stopping now. How will I ever sleep!?

Paintings for sale

This painting as well as many other paintings are for sale. I have most of them listed on facebook if you want to check those out but I'm also this week going to list them on my website. I'm hoping to "get rid" of most of my paintings in order to save money for my Kenya trip!

I am calling a church this week about renting a hall for a craft show that I want to put on in February. I think that I will start contacting potential sellers about it this week! Exciting!

Saturday, November 15, 2008

I'm going to try and list some new pendants up on etsy. I do have some craft show that I am doing but I am going to try and update my etsy site more regularly now. It's so hard and time consuming but I am going to do it! I'm all gung-ho to make extra money now since I GOT ACCEPTED TO GO VOLUNTEER IN KENYA! So now I'm freaking out a little bit because I need to fundraiser my butt off! HELP!

to diet?

It seems like everyone I associate with lately is on a "diet". I don't think I have ever been on a real diet before. I think you really have to watch out for diet pills. Those things can great really messy if you don't take them properly. I think having a balanced diet and excercise is all you really need! But what do I know!? :)

Friday, November 14, 2008

I applied to go overseas to Kenya! I applied to go with Volunteers for Peace. The project I applied for is to work with women who have HIV and do some women empowerment discussions and brick building/basket weaving. I'm hoping to get accepted. I should hear back in a few days. I did get accepted through a different organization to work in an orphanage - so if I don't get accepted through VFP I will go with them. So either way I am going! I need to start fundraising though. That's going to be tricky - since it's kind of an odd time to try and raise money - but I'll see how I do :)
Any art sales that I make will go toward my trip!

I'll be adding pendants to etsy tonight!

This week has gone by so quickly. I can't believe tomorrow if Friday already. Since only working a half week this week time just flew on by - and I'm not complaining! I have been researching medical/travel insurance. It's hard to find adequate things. You really have to read between the lines. I came across this mesothelioma website. I had never even heard of it before until now. There is so much out there that I really have no idea about. I'm watching ER right now - Grey's Anatomy is soon. Maybe that's why i'm thinking all medically right now :P

craft show success

I consider the craft show I went to on Saturday very successful. I did as well as I had hoped for. There were quite a few people there in the morning and I had a lot of lovely compliments from most people who walked by. I decided to take some advice from craftster and paint some pendants at my display table while I was there. It helped pass the time as well as people could see my process. This photo is from Saturday - I decided to display all my tree pendants together on an actualy tree. I thought i was pretty clever!

I'm trying to think of ways to promote my art and jewelry. Troy and I were talking about it tonight - ways for me to really get known around here. I looked into promotional business gifts I think that is just a little bit more professional than what my business is at the moment. I am thinking about getting some postcards made up though and passing those around - having my website and some photos of my work on it. I think that's a pretty good idea. I still have another craft show to do in December that I may have little promotional stuff for.

"Stretching to Catch the Melting Moon"

I'm finished my commissioned painting. The girl will come and pick it up sometime next week. This painting gave me a lot of hassle. I wasn't happy with it for a long time but I think I am content with it now. She wanted something "dark" with reds, black and white. So I'm hoping that this will make her happy. I took it outside to get a good picture of it (hence all the leaves on the ground). I'd love to hear your comments! Please and thank you!

2:30 in the morning!

I like where i live. I don't have fancy Moen faucets or anything but my apartment definitely has character. I like the molding and windows. I have new neighbours though - and they woke me up at 2:30 in the morning the other night - they were moving furniture around. Who moves furniture around at 2:30 in the morning! Tell me! Anyways - I am liking it here though. I'm a little paranoid to go outside especially in the dark. It's not the best neighbourhood in town.

carving pumpkins

I love the Halloween season because I love carving pumpkins. I never know what you carve but last Friday I went to my best friends house and we carved pumpkins. I carved random things, like stars, a mountain, swirls and a box with a heart inside. Sometimes I create metaphors and I don't even realize it. My pumpkin is on the right obviously. Steph's is on the left. Her bat was awesome!

Just another manic tuesday?!

Crazy week with more craziness to come. I finally finished my commision painting - I will take a photo of it soon and post it up. I've been painting pendants like crazy lately. I'm trying to get ready for my 3 craft shows. I don't know how the turn out is going to be for them but I want to be really prepared. I'm really hoping for the best!

photo love

I seriously love those digital frames. I would love to have one sitting on my mantel especially when people come over they can see all kinds of photos. I think they make a great conversation piece. We were talking at work about how great they would be. Instead of having all the photo albums it would be great to have one set up for the parents to look at. The price of them have really come down these past 2 years. It's sometimes nice to get something after it's been out for awhile then it's not so pricey.

The Josh Ritter concert was last night and it was absolutely amazing. He was so humble when we sang happy birthday to him and he just seems to genuine as a person and his love for singing. He was incrediable. He was so adorable too - I just wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home with me so he could sing to me all day. Amazing. He sang a song with all the lights off too - which was magical. He also made the lower part of the church sing to the balcony and vise versa - and he did a 3 song encore. If he's coming to your town - GO AND SEE HIM.

Halloween's approaching!

I do love what I do. I love my job. Sometimes it can be tiring and stressful but overall it's the perfect job for me. We have been getting in a lot of donations of baby bedding lately which I think it great. We are always getting lots clothes too - I just think that it's wonderful that people think of us when they want to get rid of their child's clothing. We are planning for our major Halloween party right now. There are almost 60 children coming which I think is awesome. I still have to decide what I'm going to go as. Any ideas?! Help!

Josh Ritter! 24 hours

Exactly 24 hours from now I'll be at the Josh Ritter concert! I'm so excited. He's suppose to have a special guest with him - I'm so curious to who it could be. I wonder if it will be anyone I know. I've been listening to some of his older stuff but I don't know much of his newer stuff so tonight I'm going to update myself on some of his newer songs. I don't like it when you go to a concert and you can't relate to the songs. At the Tegan and Sara concert last year I didn't familiarize myself with their new cd and I did feel a bit out of sorts. So excited for tomorrow!!! :)

Last week I found a sale on shoes. Now I don't like shopping in general - but I realllllly dislike shoe shopping. I luckily survived the summer with 2 cute organic shoes that I bought off ebay. But I found 3 very decent sneakers during the sale. It made my week to say the least. People questioned me about buying shoes online but basically for North American all the sizes are the same so you can really go with your regular shoe size (that's what I find anyways). I found this MBT shoes website too that has a good variety. I don't know if they ship to me though or not.

Nocturne 2008

Last night I went to the first ever - Nocturne in Halifax. From 6:00pm - midnight all the art galleries were open for free as well as many other special events. I went and saw the band "I See Rowboats" outside the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia - they were so awesome! I would have to say they are one of my favorites. They have such a unique sound. I had so much fun though taking the ferry over with my friends and I. It was so lovely.
Now I just have to decide what I'm going to do for Halloween!

talk to me baby

Yay - it's Friday! I'm hoping to have an exciting weekend full of helping Troy - a free art and music event and my Tai Chi class!! let's hope it all goes my way. haha. I'm just writing a quick post before I have to go and pick up Troy from work. He's going to be happy - I have pineapple for him! I found these talking watches during my lunch break - surfing on line today. Aren't those the weirdest things. Haha.
Anyways! I hope to post photos of my weekend - it should be a fun one!

loan blues.

I'm getting there - I'm inching closer and closer to paying off my student loan. It's been a very bare year - saving every cent and hardly buying anything personal for myself. Next year will be just as bad if I'm saving for a trip and for the possibility of going back to school. I guess I'll have to wait and see. I can't wait to have my loan paid off though. The end of December is when I want it totally over with - so maybe let's say Christmas is my goal :) I hope I can reach it! With all the craft shows I'm doing I really should be able to get there!
I think I can... I think I can!

the travel bug is back

I'm itching to go on a trip - again. PEI just didn't really fullfill my need. I'm thinking about going to Illinois and staying with my aunt. I wouldn't have to pay for a hotel which would be nice because that's half of the battle. The las vegas hotels we saw when I was in Las Vegas when I was 13 were awesome but I could care less about those. I'm thinking in the spring time I would really like to go. I have to wait and see if I think I'll be able to save enough money by then. hmmm! I hope so!

i love craftster

I've been spending a lot of time on lately. There are so many interesting projects and people helping each other out - it's amazing. Last night I was checking out the helpful hints for setting up your area at a craft show. I think I'm going to print it out and look at it more carefully. I want to make sure that my table is really appealing. This is so hard because I'm so new to this whole craft show thing. It's very exciting nonetheless!

it's life!

I've always been really jealous of people who have a clear complexion. I've stuggled with acne since I was a little girl and I'm starting to finally get more clear skin as I'm growing older. I thought I would never grow out of it. It's always been something I've been really shy about but finally becoming more and more comfortable with it. It's something Troy's dealt with too so it's nice to have him to confide in. I hate being so self conscious about it.

3 Craft Shows Booked!

I have offically booked 3 craft shows for this fall. 2 in November and 1 in December. I'm starting to get my things together for these events and I'm hoping for the best! I need to do some major painting days. I'm thinking about taking a day off work to catch up since I have lots of overtime hours and everything to use and I'll be gaining lots especially next month. I'm really looking forward to learning lots from these craft shows! I'm really excited about "getting out there"!

camera love

I'm thinking that soon I would like to have a new digital camera. I would consider myself a hobby-photographer. I haven't done a whole lot of it lately but I have done quite a bit in the past. I saw some really awesome Black Friday ads for cameras. My co-worker mentioning getting a camera for her mother for Christmas - but she wants one that takes film. I don't even remember seeing those anymore - they must still sell them - right?

my etsy love

I've never posted a mini showcasing of my favourite items from etsy before. And on this Thanksgiving night I am going to do so. Of course you can see a trend of wedding type dresses. I love looking at gowns and dresses on etsy. They just seem so much more elegant knowing that they are handmade too. I love it. I've been really slacking on my own etsy love these days. I'm going to try and upload some new work soon though. I'm so torn between my craft shows and everything, so I may wait until the new year.

your health and love

I'm finally connected!!! to the internet that is. I have been waiting almost 2 months for my local service provider - ahem - to get their act together but now I am happy!!! I come across so many strange things on the internet - it's a source of strange joy - I came across this CLA report. It's so good to be informed - check out this website before going on any diet pills please. Your health begs of you!

My Pumpkin Prizes
Originally uploaded by ashtonsart
I truly adore autumn. It's such a wonderful sweet-smelling time of year. I went to a local Scarecrow festival yesterday evening and saw over 150 carved pumpkins all lit up. If I can find some half decent ones - Troy and I are going to have a carving party tomorrow!! SO excited

eye i see what you see

I'm getting low on contact lenses, I need to pick some more up. But I do need to get my eyes tested because I think I need a new perscription and I haven't gotten my eyes checked in over two years. I would love to get the lazer eye surgery done. That would be so awesome not to have glasses or contacts or anything anymore!! Oh what a dream that would be.

I bought a million (okay like 96) more pendants off etsy a few weeks ago and they came in the mail the other day. I have so many now I don't even know what to do with them all! I painted a few of them yesterday but I still have so many. It's going to be nice though - now I can do some commision ones if they come up!
I'm still working on a large 3 piece panal art piece for a girl I worked with during the summer. I am excited with the way it looks so far. I am going to try and finish it this week! :) I can't wait to post a picture of it when it's done.
I'm now doing 2, and hopefully 3, craft shows this fall. I'm so excited about them. :)

money money money!

Today has been a busy week! It's gone by so quickly. How lovely though. I don't know what my weekend has in store for me because Troy wants me to go back to Bridgewater for a bit but I start my Tai Chi class on Sunday at noon. He MAY be starting a new job on Monday!! But I don't know yet so that haults my weekend. I'm so glad that my car insurance went down. Now I feel like I have a bit more spending money! Not that I'm going to go and buy something fancy. It's nice to have for Christmas gifts!

Another work week begins

My weekend was lovely. I finally have a washer! So I did 3 loads of laundry - maddness really. I also went down to the Farmer's Market. It was really nice to spend time with Troy down there and see some awesome crafters. I bought a really cool piece of artwork from a local artist - David King. I was so attracted to his artwork - it's really marvelous. I am looking forward to having my evenings to paint and clean and all that fun stuff. I really should go for a walk tonight to. Get my body moving a bit more. I’m trying to walk for at least a half an hour a day. Let’s hope that I can last at least a week.

weird little things

This week has been filled with weird little things. Being obsessed with getting a washer then getting a free one (or basically free I have to find out for sure). Winning our staff draw, selling more pendants then I ever have. It's been quite a few wonderful things. Some not so good but we won't lavish on those.

I am going to try and get my hair cut tonight. It's driving me crazy and I just want to get it done so it's not in my way all the time.

I'm going to try and get tickets for Josh Ritter who is coming here next month - so exciting!

wednesday smiles

I wouldn't mind having some new modern furniture but I am pretty content with what I have at the moment. I do like having a futon in case I have visitors over for the night - even though that doesn't happen very often. Of course I have a rocking chair for when Troy's around. He's obsessed with his rocking chairs. It's so cute though.

I'm working on a large commision painting right now. I have the background done and I am really content with it. Now I just have to work on the actual scene that I am going to do.

Art show - a success!

So... I had my art show on the weekend. It went really well! I sold one 8 X 10 painting and a few pendants. I brought my pendants into work today and even sold a few more haha. I was nervous about how I was going to do but I will consider the show a success! I met a long of interesting and talented ladies while there and we are going to keep in contact with each other and let each other know about shows that are going on. I was invited to do another art show in November as well so I am looking forward to that!

Thursday, September 11, 2008

Troy this past summer has really connected with some old friends from high school. It was really good for him. They are all really techy and have IT jobs or something related. It’s great because he’s learning more and more about computers and technology in general so he is even more helpful now when it comes to those types of things. He’s going to fix up my computer too which is exciting. I still need the internet though. I do everything from work now and it’s annoying because I don’t have much time. Hopefully I’ll get it soon!

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

I finally have my website up and running. Now I don’t have it nearly completed but it is up and finally getting somewhere. I am hopefully going to have some more information on it by the weekend so I can give out my new address at the art show that I am doing! I’m really looking forward to seeing what people like. I painted 5 more pendants last night. Yes – I am a machine! My new website is Go and check it out!

goodbye summer.

It's becoming that time of year again. When you must pack up all your outdoor furniture and cover them up with outdoor furniture covers and set them away for the winter. This past summer has been really hot. Sunny, but very rainy and cold for the most part. I know we are going to have a cold weekend this weekend because we are going to get some of the hurricane effects. I'm sure nothing will get too damaged. I don't want winter to come, it feels like we just had winter. Time goes by WAY too fast these days!

The handmade pledge

I Took The Handmade Pledge!

I know they started this website for last holiday season but I'm forwarding my pledge to this season as well! I think it's really important to buy handmade - and locally if possible. I do make a lot of online purchases but I also try my hardest to support the local handmade scene. I'm really looking forward to catching some craft fairs and the saturday morning markets where I live to pick up some great gift things for the holiday season. I hate waiting to the last minute to buy things. I'm going to get started definitely within the next few weeks!

the best of the best

I think it's important to view all of your options before you commit yourself to something. Something that I really look into is skin care products. My skin is awful. My completion is a force to be reckoned with and make up is out of the question, so I always make sure I'm using a well rounded wash wash. There are the best acne treatments on this website here, with reviews and everything. It's good to read review on this stuff (i love reading food recipes as well online) just to make sure you know what you are getting.

Art show, vacation coming to a close

I'm trying to get stuff ready for my art show. It's stressing me out a little actually. I just want to make sure I have lots of stuff, but not too much, does that make sense? my vacation is also coming to a close which makes me really sad. It feels like I haven't been to work in forever - and it's about right. I haven't been to work in a little over a week now. It's been a great vacation but I guess I am looking forward to getting back to my regular routine of things. Christmas break will be here before I know it!

wishing and hoping

I guess in the long run - if you go to the movies a lot - then you would save money by having your own theater seating as well as a huge television. I don't understand the dynamics of it all but I guess if you have the money to spend on stuff like that then go for it. I'd rather save for a potential wedding. I've been wedding crazy lately. I know it won't happen for years now but I can always hope and dream right?!

Back from our trip

We got back from our trip early evening yesterday. It was very lovely but almost not long enough. It didn't take away my traveling bug completely. It was so nice just to be off with myself and with my friends for a few days. It was great not having to worry about anything. I was a big concerned about my car breaking down but it was pretty good - even though it's been making some weird noises now. I'm satisfied with my trip though. We did and saw some very lovely things. I was really happy that I was able to visit my grandmother. She was so adorable - as always. It was so nice to just sit down and talk with her one and one with no other family around. It was lovely.

party hard - soon?

No debt collection agencies are going to be coming after me. My goal is to pay off my student loan by this December. Do you think I can do it? I really think I can. I've been doing really well on sending them money so if I continue to do so I think I'll be okay. I've got 4 months. I can damn well try!! It's going to be so glorious once I do have it paid off then I am going to go out and party!!

art studio

I think I am finally getting settled into my new apartment. It took a couple of weeks to get everything straightened away but I think I'm pretty satisfied with the way that everything is. Last week I managed to even get a table for my kitchen and two cute little chairs off of That is such a great website. I have found so many wonderful things from there. Joy. This is a picture of my "sun room". Which is dedicated as my little art studio. This picture was taken a bit ago so it is a little bit more fixed up than what this picture shows. But still, this is my little art getaway. It's such a cute little spot. That table was left in my apartment too, so I just kept it. (evil laugh)

After I was in my car accident a few weeks ago did I really truly understand why people sue others for their injuries. I always come across websites that jog my memory. This South Carolina injury lawyer helps out with just that thing. I am doing pretty good now, but I was quite banged up for a couple of weeks. Sometimes when I move my leg the wrong way it really hurts for the rest of the day. Hopefully this isn't something that will come up and bite me in the future.

dream dream dream

I'm all about the flight deals. Even though I know I can't afford a fly-on-a-plane type vacation I sometimes go on website and look up some good flight deals. I almost want to get myself suckered in. But my student loan stares me in the face everytime. It's awful. I haven't been on a fly away vacation is years now, and I'm really itching for Troy and I to actually spend money on ourselves for once and get away. Maybe this fall after lawn care is finished?! Maybe in the spring. More dreaming...

olympic joy

We didn't start out so hot, but now we have eightteen medals. 3 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze. We are doing really good I think! The games are coming to a close very soon but watching them so far have been a real joy! I'm quite impressed with all the athletes whether they were from Canada or not. There are a lot of talented people out there. I remember when I was a kid I met an olympic medalist. Then - I didn't know how significant it really was. Now I look back and think that it was too cool.

kitty cat love

I love pets. I don't know how anyone could not want them! I picked up Elliott today from the vet. I got him fixed. I've been meaning to get it done for so long now I'm glad that I finally did it. Troy also took in his mother's cat: Backstep. He had some nasty gashes on his paw and neck. He looks so awful. We need to give him medicine for a few weeks. It's going to be a tricky ordeal but lovely when he's all fixed up and better. The hard part is going to try and keep Backstep inside. We put a little baby tshirt on him so he doesn't scratch. It's too cute.
I joined a website eariler for pet lovers. (website above) It's actually quite cute and you can go on and chat about other pets. I think this site it particularly helpful if you are thinking about getting a specific pet... chatting with some other people to test out pros and cons to make sure you get the right pet to fit your lifestyle.

gym or not to gym

I was talking with my sister last night and she told me she got me five free day passes for a local gyn. I know without ever being to one before that they are not my thing. I would just rather go outside for a nice walk/jog and get my exercise that way. Do some stretching before hand and there you go. That’s all I need to do. Gym’s freak me out. I don’t know about diet pills either. I think there are some good ones out there but you do have to check them out first and make sure they aren’t going to hurt you. Better to be safe than sorry.

It's official.
My car hates me. I love it so, but it refuses to start. This morning when I went to start it to go to work it wouldn't go. Now I'm pretty sure I know what's wrong with it I just don't know how major it is to fix. I know what mechanic I am going to take it to. The tricky part is I don't know if I can get it there or if I am going to have to get a tow truck there. It's frustrating and I get such anxiety over situations like this. The thought of getting a tow truck or taking it somewhere, gets me all worked up.

oh where oh where

I'm really happy because my apartment is really shaping up! I need to do some more tweaking here and there. Especially if my co-workers come over this Thursday to check it out. I'm not sure if that's going to happen yet or not. I am thinking about looking for a new tv stands. I'm not sure yet because Troy has so many gadgets that he needs to fit everywhere. So I'm not sure yet. There is so much furniture that I am still looking for. I need chairs- badly. I have none at all. So sad :( :P

This week I'm hopefully going to the Buskers festival as well as Shakespeare by the Sea. I'm not totally sure yet but I would love to go and see some preformances. I am staying in the city this upcoming because I have to go to a workshop on Saturday afternoon. Busy busy busy bee! I just called a friend of mine who I haven't seen in a few years. She just moved up to the city and we are planning on hanging out this week. I'm really looking forward to it! I'm thinking maybe she'll come along with me to shakespeare by the sea. That would be really fun!

strength equipment

I really want to get outside and exercise more. I wish that I could wake up early in the morning and go for a walk but I get so tired and I just want to sleep to the last possible second. It's sick really. I could invest in some exercise or some strength equipment but I don't know if i want to spend the money quite yet. Maybe I'll save up. I'm thinking about getting a side part time job that may give me a few extra hours a week. I would love to start saving for a possibly wedding :)

wildlife park

We took some parents and children to a wildlife park a few weeks ago. This was a photo of a peacock at the park. They animals were so beautiful and some of them were so adorable. I really liked the otters and the wolves were really interesting. They were howling like crazy at one another. It was very fascinating. This was my favourite photo from the trip. It was almost like he was paid to stand there in front of the sign and everything.

camping and love.

I love summertime. I love camping with friends. Troy, Stephanie, Christian and myself are planning a trip to Price Edward Island at the end of this month. I'm really looking forward to it. It shouldn't be too pricey since we'll split everything four ways. We don't know yet if we are going to go camping when we go or if we'll stay in a cottage. I wish we were fancy. Troy wants to go golfing went we go on our vacation. He is so silly. This Orlando golf spot looks really fancy. I should know how to play golf, my whole family is obsessed!

to an end.

4 days off! how exciting!! Well this is my last day off which is sad. I took Friday off - i had some extra hours at work and then today is a holiday here. Natal day. Which is the birth of halifax. It's lovely to have an extra day or too off. I had some lovely visits with some friends that I haven't seen in a long time. The plan today is to relax, relax, relax! Which i'm pretty excited about! It's going to be a short work week - 4 days long instead of 5 which is going to be a busy crazy but lovely short week! ahh! yay!

whoa nelly

I've always been super self conscious about the way that I look. I never wanted to talk about acne or anything related to skin care. My friend and I were talking last night after we got home from watching a movie - the new batman one - about acne our views on the best way to get rid of acne. This is an issue that we share together and it's nice to be able to talk to someone comfortably about it. I love her so muh :)

I’m really bad with technology. My father is trying to help me with buying a computer but it’s still a rough ordeal. I get so confused with what I’m looking for. Yet I want a computer a.s.a..p I just get so antsy. I would love to get aliant to come and hook everything up really soon. But I don’t know when that’s going to happen. At least I’m going to save on an extra phone/internet/cable bill for a little while longer. Troy was trying to explain KVM stuff to me. And how amps work and all that jazz. I just don’t’ get it. Too confusing for me!

car accident

I didn't end up having a very good weekend. It was great until Sunday morning when this happened. This photo is of when Troy's friend flipped his car into the ditch. I was in the back seat behind the driver. I was banged up pretty good. I have lots of scratches and big beautiful brusies, and i'm still quite sore but alive to say as much! I am really thankful that no one was really crazy hurt. It could have been a lot worse especially if we weren't wearing out seatbelts. It was a very scarey thing to go through though. Something I don't really want to go through again.

a smile a day

I love reading reviews on everything, music, movies, medications, stores even pimple cream! Haha. I found this website that talks about the best pimple creams around. #5 even includes gold and costs over one hundred dollars for ONE bar of soap. Isn't that insane. I guess if it works then it's work it. But still. There are lots of other cheaper ones out there too. Don't give up!

weekend love

It's the weekend! How lovely! And it's not raining! I'm so surprised. These past I would have to say - six days or so have just been non-stop rain rain rain! I think it's suppose to rain for most of next week too. But I guess anything can happen. Troy and I have been spending most of our weekend time back at his "camp". We swim at the lake for hours at a time. It's really lovely. Up there is a picture of a view of the camp. It's so beautiful back there. Hopefully when I have my vacation in a couple weeks I'll be able to spend a bit of time back there. That would be lovely!

be aware

I think it's really important to be aware of what you are putting into you body. I came across this diet pill reviews website. I think it's great that there are websites out there that have honest reviews like these because sometimes you never know what you are getting yourself into if you don't educate yourself first. You do have to be very careful. So if you are thinking about taking diet pills review some of them on this website first!

a rainy stormy day!

I'm finally getting settled into my apartment.
Last night I brought my cat over. He wasn't happy with me at all but I think he'll settle in eventually. I can't wait to post photos. I have been cleaning and getting things tidied for about a week now. I am almost finished thankfully but I do need to do quite a bit more to be completely happy. I didn't think I'd mind no television but I am going a little nuts without it. I wish I had at least one channel but I have nothing all all. Thankfully my best friend Stephanie is going to let me borrow her "rabbit ears" :) I'll probably get them this weekend sometime :)

equals love

I am gathering quite a bit of stuff for the new apartment. I'm glad I don't really have to buy anything new. I do need some chairs - I don't have any at all and I am looking for a smaller table - since my kitchen it so tiny. I'd love to invest in an espresso machines. But I think i'll wait and ask for one for Christmas. I love coffee but I usually only drink it at work and I am too cheap to go through a drive-thru and by one when I feel like drinking it. I love coffee! I never thought I would but I do. Tea and coffe = love.

new apartment.

I'm getting there.
Moving into my new apartment has been so exhausting but I am almost finished. I have a few more things from my old apartment and a few things in Bridgewater then I'll be done. I can't believe it only took a couple days. I worked my little butt off though. I was a little dissappointed because the apartment was really dirty when I moved in. I spent so much time wiping down walls and doors. I'm still not finished that part yet. It's getting there though!! :)
I'll post photos soon!

Money money money!

So this month is so awesome, because I get THREE - count them - 1 - 2- 3!~ day days! I think that's so great. Now I can actually (hopefully) afford a new computer by the end of the summer. I am thinking about learning more about 0 balance transfers and hopefully getting some new and different bank and credit cards so that I can establish a good credit line :)

Flower crazy

So I think it's official. I am totally flower crazy. I've been painting and collaging flowers a lot lately. I did two paintings on the weekend of flowers/daisy's. I did this one and another one that sold on Saturday. This one didn't sell but I love it so much. I'm actually quite impressed with the way that it turned out. It is on 8 X 8 (inches) wrapped canvas using acrylics and pap (from a map). It's so fun :) I may put it on etsy. I'm not sure yet

lovely toy shopping

Work has been going really well lately. We do some really fun programming for preschool children for 8 weeks during the summers. It's nice that we also get some money donated to buy some new toys for the summer program as well as for our general programming. Shopping for toys is just as fun. I feel like a child again when I go in the mall or stores shopping for them. :) Oh what great fun.

Paint Mahone Bay a success!

This past weekend I took part in Paint Mahone Bay! It is an fundraising event for a local museum - The Settlers Museum. I displayed five of my previous works (in which I sold three of them) and I ended up selling four painting that I did around town during the weekend. Friday night there was a lovely wine and cheese kick off event and Saturday night Troy and I went to a dinner that they also hosted. I had a chance to talk with some very unique talented artist's. I would consider the event a success! I had so much fun and I'm just glad to really get my art out there more and these venues are great for it!

This is a painting that I completed during the weekend and sold titled "Florious sun colours the Mahone sky". (note the Paint Mahone Bay t-shirt and hat)

I also sold this painting on Saturday and is titled "Welcome the Mahone flowers".

books galore~

I love Amazon books so much. I ordered a handful of books last Christmas from Amazon and it was so great. I really enjoy the fact that they are so much cheaper and usually I don't even have to pay for shipping which is so great. There are a couple of books that I have been wanting to buy lately so I think I may splurge in this next little while and get a couple for my new apartment. I really want a post secret book. I bought one off amazon last christmas for a friend. I really wanted to keep it for myself haha!

Paint Mahone Bay!

Paint Mahone Bay this weekend!!
My paintings are for sale today and tomorrow until 4:30pm at the Mahone Bay Centre.

I am going there tonight for some dinner. I even convinced Troy to go with me. It didn't take too much convincing which was nice. There are so many talented artist's. Some much art that I want to have in my new apartment which I am moving into on Tuesday!! I know I haven't had much time to write - trying to paint and get ready for Paint Mahone Bay as well as packing for my new place. Troy's going to come up this week with his truck and help me out which will be really nice.

Getting behind.

I think it's a good thing that you can't talk on your cell phone anymore while you are driving (here in Nova Scotia). But it can be quite annoying sometimes when you are really looking forward to a phone call. But it's better safe than sorry. A lot of people have been buying those blue tooth things that you talk on your cell phone yet not actually hold your cellphone. I think these cell phone amplifiers are a great invention too. They can be very helpful when you are in your car. Technology is getting pretty crazy lately. I feel so "behind the times."

Paint Mahone Bay!

I'm taking part in Paint Mahone Bay again this year!

If you don't know what it is let me briefly explain it!

Artist's come together and paint scenes around the town. And media is welcome! The paintings that are done on that weekend are sold at a fixed price and the artist receives 50% of profit.

You can also sell previously done works at the Mahone Bay school. You can have five paintings up there at a time. When one sells then you put up another one!

Last year I did really well and I sold 5 previously done works and 3 paintings I did during the weekend. It was a grand accomplishment for me I have to say.

Come check it out if you are around July 12th and 13th!

if the price is right.

I'm still apartment hunting. It's going okay and there are a few new phone numbers I'm going to call today and hopefully make a few more appointments for this week upcoming.

I have seen some really beautiful photos of places with some surprisingly beautiful bathrooms with glorious Grohe faucets, and clawfoot tubs. They are just beautiful. Sometimes the price of the apartment fits, sometimes it doesn't.

Happy Canada Day!

finally over the stomach flu

So I think I am finally recovered the ultimate stomach flu. Anyways that's what I think it was. It was awful and I'm just starting to get my appetite back. I have hardly ate anything in the past 5 days. My body is catching up to it now i'm completely famished.

Tonight has been nice. No class, no work. Just good old relaxing. I am listening to a little bit of Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan trying to pick out possible wedding songs. And no i'm not engaged. I am like my friend Manda. I like to make lists. I'm obsessing I think actually. About my non-weddding wedding. It's childish and almost silly really. I'm sure it will pass soon.

My cat is trying to eat my printer. Oh dear.

Wednesday, June 25, 2008

it's a crazy time.

I've been getting a lot of random phone calls lately.
I have been getting phone calls from mortgage lenders, credit card companies, health care. I almost want to just not answer the phone lately.
I've been sleeping all afternoon. And most of these people have been calling me and waking it up! I guess they are just doing their job. Oh well.
I really hope I feel better by tomorrow but it's really hard to tell.

I have to do my ASL exam tomorrow. I haven't studied yet tonight. But I will hopefully feel better soon :(

motion sickness - every time i move.

So far this week has been HECTIC.

I went to a beautiful workshop at the Waldorf school in Blockhouse on Monday. It was so uplifting and wonderful. I really gained a lot of information and it was so wholesome and sweet. They have such a beautiful school. It's almost like a dream of mine to work there someday.

After the class my car decided to hate me. So Troy had to drive me back to the city.

I had my last class yesterday night. I am going to miss it but I'm at the same time glad that it's over so I'll have some time to myself.

Today I'm at work. And honestly I really shouldn't have come. I feel sick to my stomach. My co workers are upstairs enjoying the potluck and the smell of the food is making me nauseas. Oh well there will be more.

I have to stay though because Troy is coming by and I have to go with him to pick up some free furniture for work. I don't know what the evening will hold.

Saturday, June 21, 2008

Troy loves anything electronic. Most people seem to be like that these days. I love electronics too but I find it so difficult to be up-to-date with them. I still don't really get the whole "mp3" player thing. One day for sure I'll fall into the craze. I always come across some interesting electronic stuff like these used cisco machines. I think Troy would love trying to figure something like that out.

oh the plans.

It's been a good weekend so far! I love the weekends even though they go by so quickly. I got all my laundry done and I had a chance to play some mandolin and study some sign language. My exam is next week so I'm trying to prep a little bit.

Tomorrow my co-workers are coming down a night early for our workshop that we have in Mahone Bay on Monday. It's going to be nice to hang out with them in a non-work related setting. It is going to be sad to not spend that extra time with Troy but I'll be able to make it up hopefully next week with the hopefully long weekend I am going to take. I still have to figure that all out.

I need to get my car all fixed up and inspected hopefully this week. Crazy times.

children's book

I'm always looking for lots of children's resources. I'd love to write a children's book. I've been given it a lot of thought over these past few months, and I'm sure I'll think of a really good idea to start one. I'm just waiting for the inspiration to come and for the ideas to flow!
I love finding new songs that the children love and new stories that are interactive. It's great to find those special ones that you can do over and over with them and that they still love! It's great :)

Another weekend bites the dust

My weekend was lovely to say the least.
Saturday I got a nasty sunburn while taking a little tour and adventure to Georger's Island. It was way too cool. This was an island that was fortified in war times to knock out enemies before they could reach too close to the harbour. It was really fascinating. I took lots of pictures. I'll post a few sometime this week.

I was able to visit with my friends Stephanie and Chrisitian for awhile yesterday- it was so great to see them. I miss them so much. I hardly ever get to see them now with summer and working schedules.

Troy stayed with me all weekend. It was so nice. We watched some movies, lounged, walked, went out to eat. It was just such a great time. I can't wait till next weekend already!

I'm going to look at a potential apartment tonight!!

too many choices!

I'm really trying to save money.
haha there is always a "but". I hate it when you get an idea in your head and you can't get rid of it. I've been wanting to travel (as always) and I've got it stuck in my head that I need to buy luggage. Every time I go to the mall or any store I look at their luggage and think about all the things I could fill a suitcase up with. I try not too look online too too much. I've been really neglecting the internet lately - that's probably a good thing. I like some stuff at this Johnston and Murphy website - but there is just too much to choose from. Choices! Choices!

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

For a loved one.

This is the pendant that I painted for a girl in my American Sign Language (ASL) class. She lost a friend not too long ago and this friend's favourite colour was purple. She wanted a pendant painted "in memory" of this friend. That is why the flower is purple. I wanted to add a little baby flower in it as well to express the growth of the person through others. Does that makes sense?! :)

I have the morning off this morning! I went for a little jog now I am going to go the post office then buy some groceries! Ta ta!

Saturday, June 7, 2008

oh so tired.

This new jogging kick is wearing me out. Once I get into shape though it'll go well - i'm sure!

I've been so awful lately. I've been planning my wedding.
A wedding in which I'm not even engaged for yet! It's so crazy because I am actually thinking concrete thoughts. Not thoughts like, "oh I would really like to have this, and that" thoughts like "I know I want a yurt, I have my invites picked out and everything". let's say it's going to be a very etsy wedding!

Our children are going to have awful complexions. Troy and I were dosed with TERRIBLE acne when we were in high school. Troy's all cleared up now because of his wonderful acne treatment. I wish I could say the same. Our poor children~

End of random - tired - weekend post.
Off to start my new novel!

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Almost the weekend yet again!!

This week has been shorter. Here's a photo from LAST weekend:

But I'm so glad that the weekend is coming up. I've been so tired lately. I have had class after class and Troy came up last night so I had no time at all to clean or do anything. I went for a walk/jog when I got home last night and then I watched "So you think you can dance" then I cleaned a little bit. And now i'm writing in this. I'm really trying to find time to do everything. I'm going back to Bridgewater this weekend to spend time with Troy. It should be lovely.

ouu lala

Speaking of dieting! I just remember. I'm thinking about either taking a pilates class, investing in some fitness equipment or taking a dance class. I think I'm going to try and do this come July. I really want to take pilates but I'm not totally decided yet. I've been looking around on some website and it is pretty expensive for any of the choices but we'll have to wait and see!

Today is my first day of my "diet". It sounds incrediably silly to even say that. I can't remember ever being on a diet before. I don't think I'm really doing the "Atkins diet" but I am reducing my carbs and mainly limiting my sugar intake to zip! That's right - no more ice cream, no more chocolate, no more sweets. It makes me so sad to even think about it. But I want to be more healthy so this is what I must do! I wish I had time or someone to walk with tonight. I have to leave for class in about five minutes. It doesn't give me much time to eat and sit for a minute. Oh well. Class will soon be over then I'll have the summer to look forward too.
Apartment hunting hates me.

Monday, June 2, 2008

wedding bells.

SO many people this weekend asked me about "when am I getting married!" I would sure like to know - no pressure Troy. Hahaha.

I haven't been to a wedding in years. I always love getting invited to them and I love going to them. The ones I have gone to in the past were weird relatives or acquanites that I didn't even really know all too well. I can't wait in a few years when some of my closest friends get married. I love buying gifts too. I love looking at bridesmaid gifts and wedding party gifts. I always try and think about stuff that I want to give.

I've decided that I want to rent a Yurt for my wedding too. I want mine very low maintence yet very "me" at the same time. I can start to plan even if I don't have a ring... right?

Mini vacation

I really need to post more!

It's June already and I have hardly written anything in May. Oh well. Time sure does fly. It was strange because April seemed to go on and on forever and ever but May just zipped right by.

I just got home from a mini-vacation to P.E.I (Prince Edward Island). It was wonderful and I was able to visit with a lot of realitives who I haven't seen a long time so it was very lovely. I'll post pictures soon!

shoe love.

I ordered two really cute pairs of shoes off ebay almost two weeks ago. I really hope that they come this week! I hate it when I buy stuff online then I have to wait a few weeks - I just get so antsy! I remember when those skate shoes were really popular. I always thought they were really cool but I don't know if I would ever be able to get the hang of them. They are coming back in style. I don't actually know if they ever went out of school in the first place. :P

Crazy week

This week has gone by SO QUICKLY. Work and school and work and Bob Dylan concert with Troy and work and school again! Work tomorrow and then free for the weekend!

I have big camping plans which i'm really excited about. Saturday night Troy, Stephanie, Christian and I are going camping back to Troy's cabin. Today, at Value Village I even bought a cute little game for us to play. It will fit very well in with the whole "earthy" feel. I'm really excited about it!

A girl in my class wants me to paint her a necklace with a purple flower. I think it's going to be really cute. It's for a reminder of a friend of hers who passed away. I think it will be a good little piece for her - she's so cute.

clean your body = inside and out!

I'm so not up to date in the medical field. I heard about something awhile about getting your colon cleansed - which sounds painful and then I recently heard something about getting your liver cleansed. That just seems really odd to me. I guess it could be a good thing if it will help to function properly. I guess people who are really suffering and need some extra cleaning here and there it can be a good thing!
I'm really looking forward to this week and weekend! Bob Dylan on Wednesday and then my camping adventure on Saturday! It can't come soon enough!

Stuck in the middle :)

I'm getting excited for summer. There are going to be some really great painting opportunties for me! I'm going to take part in one fundraiser in July and one in September! I'm really looking forward to some wonderful sales. These are going to be smack dab in the middle of me moving to my new apartment - which could be interesting.

clean clean clean

I spent 4 and a half hours today cleaning!
My mom wanted me to go through some of my stuff in the garage - and I wanted to go through to it as well so I can have everything all ready when I have to move in the summer time. I have basically everything already to go now in August i'll just have to grab it in go. It'll be way too hot then to really do much - so I was taking advange of the cooler weather today. It's SO rainy!
I came across a lot of religious jewelry as well as lots of books and stuff that I totally forgot that I had. I put a lot in the church yard sale box to just get rid of. It really felt good to just know what I have and all that jazz.

Saturday night special!

Saturday Night Special

Take advantage of my saturday night special! I am having a 20% off everything in my shop sale. I don't do these sales very often (about once a month) so take advantage of it! I have listed quite a few new art pendants that I really proud of this past week so go and check them out! My etsy shop here

Don't forget to check out the saturday night special forum thread under promotions to check out lots of other great sales that are going on tonight!

Drug me up!

I really shouldn't have mentioned to Troy that I want to "loose 10 pounds." Everything I say or do when it comes to food or exercising he always comments on it. But I know he is just trying to be helpful. Boy's just don't get it! I've never really considered taking something like Phentermine to loose weight but I guess it is an option. You really have to read true reviews though. Really interesting stuff though!

sign language love

I have my class tonight. I can't believe i'm already into a few weeks of my second sign language course. I am super excited about learning more and more and I want time to go by quickly right now! so that i can go and converse with my classmates and teacher. They are all too funny.
I really want to take the deaf studies then sign language interpreting course but it's three year thing... so I'm not sure. But we'll see! :) I can't wait till the fall when Troy moves up here with me!

boo yah

I am really looking forward to getting some really nice picture frames for my new apartment. I want some little frames so I can show off some of my ACEO cards (art cards editions and originals). They are my little mini paintings that I do. :) I want to get a really LARGE picture frame and put all my art cards in them. I think that would be so awesome! I should do that soon! Now i'm getting all excited over a picture frame.
That's how awesome I am.
'check it.

packaging rules!

I'm trying out new packaging.
I am trying to create my own packaging for my pendants that make them look just a little bit more professional! I found an etsy how-to video on youtube suggesting a few things and I took them and changed them up a bit - put my own spin on it and done and done! I still have basically all of them to do. I'm still playing around with everything though to make sure I know what I want! Let me know what you think!

I need new shoes BADLY!

I found this awesome website that has cute vegan shoes. I really want some cute little shoes like those for the summer. Some new shoes like those and a few little sandals would be so awesome.

I do want to spend some money this summer on clothing and footwear considering I never get a chance to spend any money on clothing. I was watching some debt show where people are in debt and this women comes and tries to help them. She puts money into jars for them. I think I should start doing that! Any money that I don't spend I'll save for clothes or to put more money on my loan!
Troy has been suggesting I get a new car. He's so silly :P

Paint crazy

SO I was suppose to go and sell some of my pendants downtown at The Mudder's Day but the weather is so terrible today. It's windy - rainy and a down right mess. I'm really sad about this though because I was really looking forward to making some potential sales! I spent a lot of time last week painting my little heart out. I have about 40 pendants all ready to go.
I got some info on an upcoming painting even that I did last summer: Paint Mahone Bay! I did suprisingly well last year. I am staritng to get some special paintings ready just for this event! I can't wait. I'm going to send in my registration some time this week :D

oh life

Thinking about moving in my new apartment in just less than 3 months I keep thinking about costs and space. I think I am going to look for a one bedroom in Dartmouth. I'll be closer to work so I won't have to spend so much on gas and bridge, la la la.
I would love to have cable but I honestly don't think that's going to happen. I'm going to cut back on all those things since I won't be dividing it 3 ways but only 2 and possibly just by myself. I'm even debating now If I'll have a phone. Lots to think about once my pay stuff gets all situated here.
I would love to have a tv, and better yet a tv wall mount - but I don't think an apartment would let me put up something like that. I wish I could afford a small house or a condo. That would be awesome.

Mudder's Day 2008!

This Sunday - May 11th is Mudder's Day on the Halifax Commons!
11:00am - 10:00pm

If you haven't heard about this event it's a day to come together and celebrate not just Mother Earth but all mother's alike.

There are going to be some really great things going on like live music, workshops, speakers, art, and so much more!

I'm going to go down with some of my art pendants! All are welcome to come down and check it out/or and bring some handmade stuff to sell, a kite to fly, a musical instrument. For more information check out this website: Mudder's Day 2008

love love love

I had my sign language class tonight and it really opened my eyes talking with some of the ASL 4 students. There are a lot of may-i-say "older" students. They are so consumed and in love with it and who are really pushing through it. I really want to take the whole thing - and be a sign language interpreter. I want to keep my options open to be able to work in law, with children, drug rehab, schools, etc. I know that I still - so young - but I don't want to be in school for forever either. I'm looking at another 3 years of school if I want to take the whole sign language thing. It's a lot to think about that's for sure.

let's not be that predictable

I'm really itching to do a large painting! I've been doing SO MANY little pendants and ACEO's lately that I really haven't had much time or inspiration to do a really large painting but now I really want to. I'm just going to need to get the canvas for it! I am hopefully going to be selling some of my pendants down town on Sunday so I am trying to paint lots and lots for that so I'll have a huge variety of pendants. I think right now I have about 30.. but I would still like to create more. I hope it works out!

I don't think I have ever slept in a king sized bed - until this past weekend. Our hotel room had one and it was marvelous. I loved it but Troy hated it. He said he couldn't sleep because of it - who knows if that's actually correct or not but that's what he claims. I would love to have an adjustable beds. I think they are great. I know that I can only stand so much cuddling then I need my space so I would love something just to suit my needs. I went to be really early last night because I wasn't feeling well. I had such a great sleep. It was wonderful!

Road Trip!

Troy and I had our FOUR year anniversery last week so we decided to take a mini road trip to celebrate! We went down to "the valley" as us locals call it. We headed to Delap's cove for a wilderness hike. Half way through the hike there is a beautiful waterfall! As you can see from these photos:

We also headed out to Digby neck and walked a little trail to see the Balancing Rock! It was fantastic - I have been longing to see if for a long time now and I'm just glad I have that fullfilled! We stayed in Digby for the night. We even had a whirlpool bathtub. It was pretty fancy to us - to say the least. It was nice to just travel a little bit without spending a million dollars!

Enjoy the photos! I can't wait to start a little mini-road trip scrapbook!

Steam clean!

I have been in a cleaning frenzy lately. I cleaned the inside and outside of my car a few weeks ago. It's been staying clean inside- but not outside unfortunately. I wish that grime would just stay away. When I move out of this apartment I'm going to have to get some sort of steam cleaners. They expect that of you - to get everything fresh. I guess it's one way to make sure that you will get your full deposit back. I don't mind though - i would want it to be done when I moved into a place that's for sure.

Music loves

I have been finding some really awesome bands lately. I really enjoyed the band that I saw last weekend: Hungry Hill. They are very bluegrassy and I was definitely one of the youngest ones there at the concert last Saturday night. They were so awesome though and my Dad bought their latest CD.
A girl from etsy told me about this other band: The Avett Brothers and I'm really obsessed with them now. They have just have such a cool folky sound. :) I am burning cds like crazy!

Off for the weekend!

Troy and I are going away for the weekend and I'm really excited about it!
We have never gone and stayed at a hotel before! I am trying to save money and all that jazz but I really want to go and relax for a weekend! Yesterday was our FOUR YEAR anniversery which was very exciting! Now I can say we have been offically together for 4 years! How wonderful. I was going to go shopping for some chemises and stuff - haha yah right.
I took the afternoon off and I'm going to head back to Bridgewater soon. I got a wholt bunch of pendants in the mail yesterday so I wanted to paint of of those before I go for a potential art sale next weekend! :)

Pendant maddness!

I have been selling a few pendants each month - which I think is really great. That will overall be at least over 48 pendants a year if I continue at this rate. Offline and online I have probably sold close to 15! I have ordered more wood pendants to paint - so hopefully they were be here soon! I have a show in 2 weeks that will hopefully be lots of traffic for me. I sold one last night (my earth) one. I loved the Earth one - I'll have to do more of them! It turned out really cute. I have it already to mail out~ I listed this kitty one today!

moving :)

I am starting to get really excited about moving out to my own apartment. I really am a home body and I like to be by myself and now have to worry about anything :) It makes me joyous just the thought of it! I can't wait to buy some new lights, especially some floor lamps. I like aestheically pleasing lighting. It makes my whole mood better. I'm going to TRY and start getting up eariler too. I don't know if it's actually going to happen or not. I am going to try once I get my own place and I won't have to worry about not getting a chance to shower in the morning and all that jazz :)

Three months to go!

A Day Late

I celebrated Earth day by (well working all day but after that) painting. Painting some new pendants! I got 3 done and I listed my Earth Day one specifically. I love green and blue together - I think the Earth is just so beautiful. I hope you all like it. It's up on etsy and is ready for sale! :)

Today was such a beautiful day. Too bad I didn't get a good chance to really enjoy it. I would have loved to go for a walk this evening but it's tough when there isn't anyone around to really walk with. I guess I'm going to have to make more friends around here - walking friends maybe?
It's nice to have exercise equipment though especially in the winter time. I know my sister just bought an elyptical (is that how you spell it?) a few months ago. It's pretty neat even though I haven't used it. It will be a purchase in the future possibly :P

Flowers on my mind

Since spring is approaching I have flowers on my mind. I recently listed 2 flower pendants. I really need to be painting more - I just have been so busy lately! I know that's no excuse... well maybe it is. I start my second sign language class (ASL2) next week so I am going to be super busy all over again. I recently found out about a handmade craft market going on this weekend - too bad I didn't know about it earlier or I would have loved to participate! Oh well :)

some of my friends sit in the sea again.

I am really excited (I know I keep saying this) to pay back my studen loan so I can put some money away into some savings accounts! I am going to buy a really nice laptop first and then I am going to save save save! I can't wait. I know that I don't make an enormous amount of money with what I am doing right now but time goes by so quickly and I love it so much. Who knows what's going to happen in the future career wise. I am really looking forward to learning more sign language and seeing if that turns into a potential career. Troy keeps giving me all this advise on savings accounts. I should start listening soon :P

ASL love

Tonight I went and met up with my classmates for an "end of class" dinner. It was so fun. We went to a cute little mexican food resturant downtown. We were there for over 2 hours just chatting and signing and everything it was so fun. I just love being in that atmosphere signing with everyone and talking about things. I really do like the people in my class and I usually can't say that!
One girl keeps calling me a 'baby' once she found out how "young" I am. I am really flattered when people tell me how mature I am. It does make me really happy. I just think it's so nice that people do perceive me older even though I may look younger. It's nice :)
I can't wait to start ASL level 2! :)

I've been playing a lot of games lately - surprisingly! It has been a long time since I actually got my hands on some sort of gaming system but these last few weekends Troy and I pop over to Greg's house for a few hours at a time and play his new "Wii". It is really fun and cute. I have always been a nintendo geek. I should dig-out my old-school gameboy sometime. That would be fun. Troy's niece showed me her little handheld playstation thing and it's crazy the stuff that you can do with it. Once you get out of the loop with that kind of technology it's hard to understand anything!

sold aceo! :)

I've been wondering about my ACEO's lately what I should do about them. They haven't been that popular on etsy lately - especially compared with my wooden pendants that I have been doing lots of - but today I finally sold a really cute one. It was a pleasant surprise considering I haven't listed a new aceo in awhile - or anything super new over all for a while. It's been a busy last few weeks for sure!
Here's the one that has a new home now:

New furniture

I cannot wait to pay off my student loan. I know that I really want to buy some new furniture as well as a laptop once I save up after paying the loan off. Just thinking about it gets me all excited. I can't wait! I know I still have a long ways to go - but putting a little bit on my loan when I have the extra saved up - really helps a lot. And with summer coming up - I do want to buy some new clothes. I haven't bought some nice new clothes - since I can't remember when! Hopefully this will be the season! :D

I'm a slacker. !

Wow -
I've been really slacking on this blog lately! I guess I have been pretty busy. I took my wooden pendants into my sign language class last weekend and ending up selling eight of them! Everyone was telling me that I should go downtown and sell them at the market - it did give me a lot of confidence! =D

My first sign language class is over and in a few weeks I'm going to be starting my second one. I love it so much - it makes me so happy :)

I'm glad it's the weekend - even though it's half over already :(. The week does seem go to semi-fast but the weekend just speeds by. I have lots to look forward to this week though :)

Plans plans!

It has been a very interesting weekend. I had class yesterday morning then came back here to TOB to visit with Troy. I think he is going to "jam" with some guys later on this afternoon so I may head back to the city early. I'm not sure yet!
He and I were talking about vacation last night. I really want to take a cheap flights to Newfoundland and do some camping. Maybe in September sometime? Labour day weekend I think would be great! My friend Christian and Stephanie want to go to! It would be so fun. I don't know if we would drive and take the ferry or take a plane. I'll have to figure out costs. :)

painting maddness!

It's Tuesday already - yay!
I have my class tonight which I'm kinda looking forward too. It's just super tiring. I spent HOURS painting last night. I almost have a cute little 6 X 6 one done. I'm not sure if I want to list it on etsy or not - I guess it wouldn't hurt. I'm excited about it I hope to get some feedback on it - I'll try and post photos of it tomorrow. I also finished up a custom piece done on wood which I'll try and post a photo of as well. I need to buy some hooks for it on the back so that it can be hung. I hope she's happy with it.

:) Painting maddness around here!

Sunday, March 30, 2008

I don't mind living here but I do get excited when I think about moving. I want to move over to the "Darkside" but I don't at the same time. It's safer over here and cuter but more expensive - considering that I work over there and everything. It's really a tough call. Troy could really care less where he lives - he's like me doesn't want anything SUPER fancey nor a dump.
I don't think this company that we are with right now but we are having a lot of troubles with our shower. We are having problems with our faucet and shower and now a piece where you put your soap in the shower - well it fell off the wall yesterday. It's just silly. I don't care too much I'm leaving (kinda) soon anyways :D
