carving pumpkins

I love the Halloween season because I love carving pumpkins. I never know what you carve but last Friday I went to my best friends house and we carved pumpkins. I carved random things, like stars, a mountain, swirls and a box with a heart inside. Sometimes I create metaphors and I don't even realize it. My pumpkin is on the right obviously. Steph's is on the left. Her bat was awesome!

Just another manic tuesday?!

Crazy week with more craziness to come. I finally finished my commision painting - I will take a photo of it soon and post it up. I've been painting pendants like crazy lately. I'm trying to get ready for my 3 craft shows. I don't know how the turn out is going to be for them but I want to be really prepared. I'm really hoping for the best!

photo love

I seriously love those digital frames. I would love to have one sitting on my mantel especially when people come over they can see all kinds of photos. I think they make a great conversation piece. We were talking at work about how great they would be. Instead of having all the photo albums it would be great to have one set up for the parents to look at. The price of them have really come down these past 2 years. It's sometimes nice to get something after it's been out for awhile then it's not so pricey.

JOSH RITTER!!!

The Josh Ritter concert was last night and it was absolutely amazing. He was so humble when we sang happy birthday to him and he just seems to genuine as a person and his love for singing. He was incrediable. He was so adorable too - I just wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home with me so he could sing to me all day. Amazing. He sang a song with all the lights off too - which was magical. He also made the lower part of the church sing to the balcony and vise versa - and he did a 3 song encore. If he's coming to your town - GO AND SEE HIM.

Halloween's approaching!

I do love what I do. I love my job. Sometimes it can be tiring and stressful but overall it's the perfect job for me. We have been getting in a lot of donations of baby bedding lately which I think it great. We are always getting lots clothes too - I just think that it's wonderful that people think of us when they want to get rid of their child's clothing. We are planning for our major Halloween party right now. There are almost 60 children coming which I think is awesome. I still have to decide what I'm going to go as. Any ideas?! Help!

Josh Ritter! 24 hours

Exactly 24 hours from now I'll be at the Josh Ritter concert! I'm so excited. He's suppose to have a special guest with him - I'm so curious to who it could be. I wonder if it will be anyone I know. I've been listening to some of his older stuff but I don't know much of his newer stuff so tonight I'm going to update myself on some of his newer songs. I don't like it when you go to a concert and you can't relate to the songs. At the Tegan and Sara concert last year I didn't familiarize myself with their new cd and I did feel a bit out of sorts. So excited for tomorrow!!! :)

shoes.

Last week I found a sale on shoes. Now I don't like shopping in general - but I realllllly dislike shoe shopping. I luckily survived the summer with 2 cute organic shoes that I bought off ebay. But I found 3 very decent sneakers during the sale. It made my week to say the least. People questioned me about buying shoes online but basically for North American all the sizes are the same so you can really go with your regular shoe size (that's what I find anyways). I found this MBT shoes website too that has a good variety. I don't know if they ship to me though or not.

Nocturne 2008

Last night I went to the first ever - Nocturne in Halifax. From 6:00pm - midnight all the art galleries were open for free as well as many other special events. I went and saw the band "I See Rowboats" outside the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia - they were so awesome! I would have to say they are one of my favorites. They have such a unique sound. I had so much fun though taking the ferry over with my friends and I. It was so lovely.
Now I just have to decide what I'm going to do for Halloween!

talk to me baby

Yay - it's Friday! I'm hoping to have an exciting weekend full of helping Troy - a free art and music event and my Tai Chi class!! let's hope it all goes my way. haha. I'm just writing a quick post before I have to go and pick up Troy from work. He's going to be happy - I have pineapple for him! I found these talking watches during my lunch break - surfing on line today. Aren't those the weirdest things. Haha.
Anyways! I hope to post photos of my weekend - it should be a fun one!

loan blues.

I'm getting there - I'm inching closer and closer to paying off my student loan. It's been a very bare year - saving every cent and hardly buying anything personal for myself. Next year will be just as bad if I'm saving for a trip and for the possibility of going back to school. I guess I'll have to wait and see. I can't wait to have my loan paid off though. The end of December is when I want it totally over with - so maybe let's say Christmas is my goal :) I hope I can reach it! With all the craft shows I'm doing I really should be able to get there!
I think I can... I think I can!

the travel bug is back

I'm itching to go on a trip - again. PEI just didn't really fullfill my need. I'm thinking about going to Illinois and staying with my aunt. I wouldn't have to pay for a hotel which would be nice because that's half of the battle. The las vegas hotels we saw when I was in Las Vegas when I was 13 were awesome but I could care less about those. I'm thinking in the spring time I would really like to go. I have to wait and see if I think I'll be able to save enough money by then. hmmm! I hope so!

i love craftster

I've been spending a lot of time on www.craftster.org lately. There are so many interesting projects and people helping each other out - it's amazing. Last night I was checking out the helpful hints for setting up your area at a craft show. I think I'm going to print it out and look at it more carefully. I want to make sure that my table is really appealing. This is so hard because I'm so new to this whole craft show thing. It's very exciting nonetheless!

it's life!

I've always been really jealous of people who have a clear complexion. I've stuggled with acne since I was a little girl and I'm starting to finally get more clear skin as I'm growing older. I thought I would never grow out of it. It's always been something I've been really shy about but finally becoming more and more comfortable with it. It's something Troy's dealt with too so it's nice to have him to confide in. I hate being so self conscious about it.

3 Craft Shows Booked!

I have offically booked 3 craft shows for this fall. 2 in November and 1 in December. I'm starting to get my things together for these events and I'm hoping for the best! I need to do some major painting days. I'm thinking about taking a day off work to catch up since I have lots of overtime hours and everything to use and I'll be gaining lots especially next month. I'm really looking forward to learning lots from these craft shows! I'm really excited about "getting out there"!

camera love

I'm thinking that soon I would like to have a new digital camera. I would consider myself a hobby-photographer. I haven't done a whole lot of it lately but I have done quite a bit in the past. I saw some really awesome Black Friday ads for cameras. My co-worker mentioning getting a camera for her mother for Christmas - but she wants one that takes film. I don't even remember seeing those anymore - they must still sell them - right?

my etsy love

I've never posted a mini showcasing of my favourite items from etsy before. And on this Thanksgiving night I am going to do so. Of course you can see a trend of wedding type dresses. I love looking at gowns and dresses on etsy. They just seem so much more elegant knowing that they are handmade too. I love it. I've been really slacking on my own etsy love these days. I'm going to try and upload some new work soon though. I'm so torn between my craft shows and everything, so I may wait until the new year.

your health and love

I'm finally connected!!! to the internet that is. I have been waiting almost 2 months for my local service provider - ahem - to get their act together but now I am happy!!! I come across so many strange things on the internet - it's a source of strange joy - I came across this CLA report. It's so good to be informed - check out this website before going on any diet pills please. Your health begs of you!

Welcome October

My Pumpkin Prizes
Originally uploaded by ashtonsart
I truly adore autumn. It's such a wonderful sweet-smelling time of year. I went to a local Scarecrow festival yesterday evening and saw over 150 carved pumpkins all lit up. They were so gorgeous and now I'm inspired to carve some of my own. I painted these pumpkins last year for work as prizes at our Halloween party. They were fun to make and give out. If I can find some half decent ones - Troy and I are going to have a carving party tomorrow!! SO excited
