how things work

Troy is always fixing things. I think he should fix things as a part time job! He loves to see how things work. I think he would make a great engineer. We have random things lying around the apartment most of the time, bolts, screws, tools, toggle switches, anything you can think of really. I think when we "settle down" (as they say) we'll have to have a little art room for me and a builder room for him!

Christmas happiness

Christmas has been lovely. People have gotten some nice gifts and I have spent some time with some great people. It's been nice to see strange gifts that people give and receive. I even saw mounts and everything! I got some cute useful things that I'm pleased about. I'm thinking about taking up some boxing day sales (here it doesn't start until tomorrow) - but i'm not sure about it yet. I really want to get myself a nice pair of running shoes. I'm obsessed with Jogging now. Let's see how long that lasts with winter and everything!

Coffee Sack Curtains

Friday, after work I drove over to Halifax to a local coffee roaster/cafe - The Java Blend. I sent out some e-mails last week looking for coffee sacks, so I could start making things out of them. My first project you can see on your left. They are wonderful curtains! I had yucky old blinds from when I moved into the apartment. I went to the store on Saturday and picked up the curtain rods, Troy helped me put them up and now I have my wonderful curtains that I made hanging. These are in my bedroom and I'm also in the process of making some for my art/sun room. They look so cute. I'm going to make some pillows as well. I'm not sure what else but curtains and pillows for sure so far!

train baby

Troy and I have been discussing a possible trip out across the country. I think maybe in 2011 we will take a train out there and fly back. We also debating, flying, driving the car or renting an rv. I didn't even realize that you'd need special rv insurance and everything. But I think going by train will be quite lovely and they even have special deals in the off season - which is when we would go anyways because of lawn care! Very exciting.

henna

I worked last Saturday at a local festival that celebrates and educates on the variety of holidays around this season. I was looking after the food table for Hanukkah. Beside my table was the Muslim Association and they were doing free henna designs so I got one done. I ask them where they bought the ink, so now I know where to find it and I think i'm going to go and buy some and practice some designs. I love henna, there is just something about it that I gravitate towards. It's very beautiful. My design is almost gone now though, so it stays on for about a week, depending.

life plans

I'm on vacation, and very excited. Well i have to work one day this week but other than that I'm scott free for almost 2 weeks. I will go back on Jan. 4. I've been really trying to plan out my life lately. It's extremely difficult. I practically have my whole wedding planned, wedding invitations and everything but this isn't that good considering i'm not even engaged! hahah. I guess it won't be a lot of work when I do get engaged though. I won't have any stress when it comes to that stuff. I have some exciting projects I'm working on. I'll post photos about it soon!

christmas troubles

Some people in my life are so extremely hard to shop for. But I stress myself out because I was so badly to find or make creative/unique gifts for people. I'm almost done my shopping and making things. I have a few more things to get together and buy/make then I'll be finished. I was thinking about getting some custom mugs for people this year, but I opted out on the idea. It's so tricky! We got a custom mug done for Troy's mom one year, with her dog's photo on it and she really enjoyed it. I don't know! Wish me luck (again)

the village emporium

Don't forget if you are down in the south shore that you stop by the Village Emporium and check out my little corner of goodies! I have some of my felted items (balls, acorns (earrings and ornaments), soap) as well as some of my hand painted pendants. They are all so exciting I don't know what to do with myself. I'm doing my write up for the website soon. I even have my own little spot on there so make sure you stop by and check that out as well! Wish me luck!

December!

I can't believe Christmas is less that 2 weeks away. I'm pretty much ready, but still have a bit more things to get here and there. Nothing major though. Last night was Troy's work Christmas party, I love free food and drinks! He has to work today which sucks, but that's okay. I've been pretty productive so far. I'm in the process of baking muffins, cooking chicken and cleaning.
I've recently been on a health kick. I'm really trying hard to eat healthy and exercise daily. I even have a little pedometer that measures how many steps I take per day! I joined an online health website to track how Im' doing as well. I hope I can keep it up! I always come across website like this weight loss austin website, it's good that information is out there. Troy and I are a BIT obsessed with Dr. Oz too! haha

hey hey hey hey

I enjoyed an intro to yoga session this afternoon. I really want to take a class - come the new year. Just not sure how I'm going to go about it yet. I am also debating going for some massages as well. I love low cost health insurance and my insurance through work - it covers a portion of massage - so i figure I'll use it up. I have never gone for one before and me being a HSP (Highly sensitive person) i'm very nervous about going about this. Does anyone have any feedback they can share?

Elliot wants love now. Tuna melts for supper? :)

thrifty love

I absolutely love thrift shopping. I love Frenchy's (popular here in Nova Scotia), value village and Sally Ann's (Salvation Arm thrift store). I used to hate it when people I know would go to these places and find some really great things. I am proud to say that I'm one of those people now - or so I feel. Usually I'm wearing at least one article a day that was found during one of my adventures to the thrift store; whether it be shoes, shirt, pants, accessories, etc. I found this little handy display the other day at Value Village which I'm going to be displaying my acorn earrings at the village emporium come tomorrow afternoon! Wish me luck!

cleanse? or not to cleanse?

I keep hearing about these colon cleanses. I'm not really sure what to think about them. I'm paranoid because this kind (colon) cancer runs in my family so I'm not sure if this is something that I should be looking into or not. Troy's obsessed with Dr.Oz so I wonder if he has heard anything about it. I'll ask him when he gets home tonight :)

I'm listening to Greg Holden right now. He's so adorable. He's an emerging artist from the UK who's been touring with Ingrid Michaelson this season. Check him out.

autumn update

This has been a great season so far. Autumn has been so beautiful here in Nova Scotia. It's raining at the moment (not snowing - that's a surprise) and I just love the sound of rain as it's dripping or hitting the ground. Troy is living up in the city with me now. His weekends are a bit wonky though. He has today and Wednesday off this weekend but will have to work this weekend while I'm doing my craft show in Lunenburg. It's going to be weird me being there and him being up here - it's opposite really. He's looking for another job that will maybe give him regular weekends so we'll have time together. Like a call centre or something. Has anyone heard of fulfillment centers or e-commerce websites? I want to start up a nice website for my art/felt for sale. I'm not sure how to go about it though.

Art art art!

Last weekend I did a show in Cole Harbour and this weekend I'm doing my last craft show of the season in Lunenburg! On Friday I'm setting up my felted creations at a store in Chester called The Village Emporium. I'm really excited about setting this up. I've been getting things ready all week so far and will be spending the next two nights getting pricing and packaging things up for the store! Don't forget if you are in the Chester area to stop by and pick up some Christmas presents for your family and friends!

travel bug again and again

I'm itching to travel some where - but aren't I always!? I have been looking up projects. Troy and I are thinking of going to Costa Rica and volunteering with turtles - helping babies get to the ocean and all that jazz. He loves turtles - it's a good choice. We are thinking maybe not this March but 2011 March. I think it's a great idea. I want to travel lots before I'm settled with a home and children (whenever that will happen)! But I'm excited for both things really. mexico vacations would be lovely too. I was talking with a lady tonight who's from Mexico but lives here. She is going back to Mexico because our winters are just too cold for her :)

Ivy Vine

On Saturday I went down with my best friend Stephanie to the local tattoo shop and got this tattoo done. It was a pretty intense ordeal overall. I was nervous for days especially the day of it and was making myself sick with anxiety. It took 2 hours and was quite painful but I'm really happy I have it now. It's at the itchy stage at the moment and it's driving me crazy. I have to go wash it and put some cream on it before bedtime. Stephanie got a really cute tattoo as well - the scripted word "love" on her wrist - it's very sweet. It was nice that it didn't take her to long so she could talk to me while I was getting mine done to try and distract me a little bit. We kept the tattoo artist laughing with our silly conversations. Good overall.

warm winter days

I lost weight this past summer. I am atributing it to cutting out ALL juice. I had the occassional apple juice but I stopped drinking all sugary not-god-for-you juices all together. I know that's why my belly fat has been disappearing for sure. Now if i could only cut out chocolate and other sweets. I made an apple crisp last night - so good but so not good for me. I have been trying to eat healthy, hopefully i'll keep more active throughout the winter months. Winter kills me when it comes to that. I just want to cuddle up on the couch with hot chocolate. I am excited about that!

Christmas shopping no no no

I hate Christmas shopping so I have been trying to get some stuff from the craft shows bought and traded so I won't have to spend any time in a mall or store in December - whatsoever. Very excitited about this idea. I have been trying to make things as well so that has been taking up a lot of my time. I'm going to have my felted stuff in a shop in Chester so I have been trying to get that together as well, but it's been difficult to find the time. My goal is next weekend I'll put it in - hopefully they are okay with that.

televison

I never really understand new technology. When different gaming systems came out I didn't get it (now i love them), when mp3s, ipods (still don't get those completely) came out it's so foreign. Considering that I am "young" and should be hip with all these things but I'm not at all - most of the time. I do love you internet :). The new thing I don't really understand is the whole HDTV craze. I saw these Samsung HDTVs online and yes they are lovely but I don't know if really need to be seeing video like it's "real". I don't get it I guess. Ask me in a year or two, maybe I'll say differently.

autumn love

Autumn is closing to an end. We have been having beautiful autumn weather this week so far. The sun has been shining gloriously and tomorrow will hopefully be another good one since I'm helping Troy with the last of his fall clean up. He despises raking, and I don't mind it so It will be lovely - as long as it stays nice out. My shoulder has been hurting me, so hopefully that won't be an issue tomorrow.

Don't forget that I have 2 more craft shows for this season so make sure that you stop by and check them out. <3

weight? ouchy?

I've ate so much junk food this past weekend, it's terrible! I really need to detox - spinach salads all week for me! I know i'll feel much better when I do. I only weighed myself yesterday at Evan's house. I don't have a scale, so i only weigh myself at other people's houses. If you are trying to loose weight, please don't be silly about it! Check out all kinds of resources before you go through websites like this best fat burner one. Be safe people! :) I did something to my back too, I don't know how but it's really hurting. I ask troy every five minutes to rub where it hurts. Ouch.

Craft show

Craft show at the Dartmouth sportsplex was this past weekend. Attendance was down significantly lower but I did okay considering this factor. Here are two photos from my set up. One is my felt balls - made for infants. They are a nice organic, non toxic way for babies to enjoy a ball. Some of these even have nice little jingly bells inside. The other photos is a set up for my acorn ornaments. Everyone commented on how cute all of my felted things were and how nifty the felted soaps were. I met some really talented and unique people. I even did a trade with a women named Maureen St.Clair", she does beautiful artwork, check her out. :)

new jobbie

I got a new job at work! I don't start quite yet, soon, but not yet :) It should be very good. It's nice that i get to keep all of my own insurance and everything, i don't like having to go through other places and get life insurance quotes and all that jazz. it's annoying. It takes time having to research something i'm not very good at in the first place.

I've been doing a craft show all weekend. it's been pretty good so far. I'm doing at 3 more shows, so i'm excited about that. hopefully i'll be able to save some money! I'll post some photos on here soon. Don't forget to join the facebook group: thejumpingcrow :)

wool balls

Oh dear. As most of you know i haven't posted as much as in the summer or spring but i'm feeling better and excited to write about some new projects that i have been working on even though i have been off ill. Here is a photo of some baby toys that i have been trying to complete as of late. These are wool balls made with 100% wool, felted with many different designs. Sorry for the sad photo, i'll try and post a better one soon.

busy bee

Apartently i've been loosing weight, no fat burners for me thank you! We'll see if I can keep it up. haha. Half joking. I'm excited about the prospect of a part-time job! An art friend of mine asked me if i was interested in doing a couple workshops in the new year at the store she works as, so we'll see what happens. I need to write some "new year's resolutions". I have never done this before but i think i'd like to start!

Nocture: Art at Night

On Saturday Night I went to an event called Nocture Halifax: Art at Night. This is the second year for this event, I went last year and was so excited when i found out it was happening again this year.

I tried my best to map out a route for some friends and I, but it was difficult. Nonetheless we had a grand time strolling the streets of Halifax. We saw some really great galleries: Viewpoint, 1313 Hollis, Argyle Fine Art and so much more. We also had an opportunity to see some wonderful installations. We viewed Tanya Davis (a local singer-songwriter) do some poetry/story readings, circus acts and fire show, dance shows at Halifax Dance and more. It was really great. I was just sad that I couldn't see everything. I hope next year they make it 2 nights!

new car?

I've been looking for a new car? (Yes a question marks belongs there). But I'm just not sure what I'm going to do yet. I want one, and mine is making it's way out (to the dump in my opinion) but i don't have that just income to be able to afford it. A ferrari would be nice haha, can you imagine me working with Ferrari parts on a car. I hate anything fancy or new, i'm just afraid i'm going to break it. i would really like to have a JEEP Wrangler. That is my dream.

new clothes?

People have been telling me lately that it looks like i've been loosing weight? I haven't taken weight loss supplements, exercised a lot more then i usually do, haven't eaten more healthy (try hard to do this all the time). But I don't know if i have or not. I would like to go shopping for some new clothes. I have zero jeans now, they are all roughed up. I haven't bought jeans in about 3 years. that's pretty sad isn't it. It would be nice to get NEW clothes, but i'll probably end up at the village. (value village) :)

nuthatch love

I thought I posted a photo of this, but I guess I didn't! Here is a picture of me (well, my hand) feeding a nuthatch. At a local park you can feed the birds (chickadees and nuthatches) as well as the chipmunks right out your hand. I took this photo a few weeks ago, but we went to the park for a walk today and fed the birds. I took my friends Stephanie; she had never fed birds before. It was very lovely. I love the birds so much, especially the friendly ones.

job? school?

I applied for a new job! Wish me luck. I had my interview, not overly happy with it, but we'll see what happens. I always find the "getting a job" process really interesting. Like, employee background checks and learning how people handle situations. Learning how to get along with your coworkers. (Yes I say, "learn" how to). It's just interesting. I want to go back to school in a few years. So I am looking forward to that. I'm going to save up some money first.

funky hair?

Not sure what I'm going to do with my hair. I know... crisis or what! my hair have been pretty healthy lately, no hair vitamins for me! I haven't dyed my hair in a long time, a few years (3)? actually. That's pretty decent but i'm always itching to do something funky to it. I don't mind how long it is now, but it is getting and becoming a pain. So i may get it cut again soon. I haven't got it cut since the beginning of July. Any funky hairstyles out there? post them!

so much to do

Check out these reviews for acne treatments. I love reading reviews before purchasing. It's always good to know the most you can before you spend the money. This week is going to be very busy for me. Lots of good things, lots of "alright" things. It doesn't leave me much time to do crafting, but i'm sure i'll the time! I have quite a few things done for my shows, but I still have a lot to do!

Felted soap

Felted soap for sale!! During my craft shows this fall I will be selling felted soap. They are really great because you don't need a loofah or scrubbie or the like, because the felt on the soap does the scrubbing for you! They are quite handy and make great gifts! I will be busy this month making lots of these loving soaps!

so much!

I've been thinking a lot about Christmas. I'm so excited about getting gifts at craft shows and making stuff to give away. I already have a few things together, which is exciting. I think i'm going to get troy some industrial safety supplies . He needs to keep safe on the job. I know i can write about it on here because he doesn't read this! Ha~ I'm home this afternoon for a few hours but then I have to go back into work tonight. I needed a little break. I've been getting headaches a lot lately.

busy bee

Alright. It is official. I am going to be involved in FOUR craft shows this fall - maybe even five. I've been spending any extra time working on getting stuff made. I have quite a few earrings made now, i just have to keep working on other felted things. I'm having a lot of fun making felted balls as well. I just made some the other day with bells insides. They are really fun. I have to figure out how i'm going to set up everything as well. It shouldn't be that difficult. I think I am going to use a canvas type fabric and needle felt some designs on it. I think it will be cute!

car

I'm having trouble with my car again. I really do need to get it fixed by the winter though or I will in a lot of trouble once the snow starts to fall. I was thinking about buying a new car. But i'd rather not spend the money every month to have one. I'm trying to save for schooling and my future but it's difficult. Troy's always looking at new trucks and car accessories online but it's hard to save money when there are nice things to buy. haha. I swear i am NOT materialistic. It would just be nice to have nice things for once. :)

New and improved wooden pendants.

Alright. So it took me basically all summer. But I finally have my new pendants all figured out. I made some for the craft show i was in a few weekends ago, but I'm planning on make lots more for the craft shows i'll be in this fall. What do you think? I really like the natural look at them. I even left the bark on the edges to give it an organic look. Anyways. I'm not selling them online yet, but maybe soon! I am just focusing on craft shows for now :)

cabin!

I'm giving myself 2 years to save up for our cabin. Troy and I have been dreaming of layout and things to put in it. I'm excited because we received "hand me downs" from his sister and parents. We now have a fridge, oven, toilet and bathtub. We may also have a bunch of cupboards as well. So exciting! We'll need to invest in a lot of new things, if we can't find some reasonable used items, like faucets. Kohler faucets are very nice too. I'm excited, I just want time to pass very quickly. Even though i know that you shouldn't wish time away...

acorn earrings.

So excited. I started to make felted acorns for decorations. But I also started making this into earrings as well. Check out the photo! Aren't they adorable. I'm really excited about them. I will be selling these for $12 each. If you want one in a specific colour please contact me! I also have some felt balls made as well, i'll take a photo of those soon!

all that jazz

I am always curious to how people find out about my work, and my blog. I don't know if people get popular by going through paid web directory and the like. I am happy that people are out there and want to view my stuff though. I started a facebook group so people can join that too. I'm very excited about this fall and what it has to offer me.

what a great week!

Things have a funny way of coming together. I felt calm today. I went to a meeting today. We had workshops done by other resource centres. One of the workshops was how to cope with stress. She talked about aromatherapy and your "ora". She used dowsing rods to measure this woman's ora. It's hard to explain, but it was absolutely fascinating. She had this book there, "Heal Your Body" by Louise L. Hay. It's all about how mental/emotional thinking causes physical illness. I looked up some of my little aches (shoulder) and cuts on my fingers. It suggests that i'm worried and angry. They even give little affirmations after them. Is it strange to stand in the "self-help" section and read. :) Someone called that something. Book therapy? no that's not right. now that's going to bother me all night.

AND then i went to the park to find acorns, and i met up with "nature man" (i found out his real name today) and i fed some chipmunks and chickadee's; once even at the same time. It was magical. That made my week. :)

AND I went to PEI and visited my grandmother last weekend and it was SO great. I had such a great time and I think Troy did too. I even found some good deals. Work tomorrow then craft show on Saturday!

stash away

I happen to have cardboard moving boxes stashed away in my apartment. I don't know why. I always seem to collect strange things, then get mad at myself afterwords for being cluttery and junkie. I cleaned my art room the other day so i'm actually being productive lately. This is very exciting. I have quite a few pendants almost ready for sale. I have a lot to do to get ready for all the craft shows i'm doing this fall. Does everyone like my felt acorns from yesterdays' post? :)

felt acorns

Post #800! Wow that's pretty intense. I'm so excited for this fall. I am hopefully booked in for at least 4 craft shows! I'm very antsy. I just need to make sure I have LOADS to stock ! :) I have been very busy felting as well as re-creating my wooden pendants. I have actually started to create my own wooden pendants (not yucky bought ones). They are very sweet. I'll post a photo soon. I'm working on a bunch of different ones now. I'm going to do a lot of tree ones, don't worry :) I already have 2 tree ones painted. I have also been very busy felting soap as well as these sweet acorns. I am also waiting on some wool batting in the mail to do some balls for baby toys :) Exciting!

random post

There are some things that I NEVER give thought to. Like how POS systems work? It seems so complicated. Sometimes technology really freaks me out. Maybe I just don't like things that I can't understand. I don't watch TV anymore. The occassional Youtube video yes. I borrow movies and boxsets from the library. I'm watching a British series right now: Spaced. oh-so-very funny. So I guess I lied, I do watch TV, but just not in a normal person kind of way.

Random!

Craft Shows!

I've really been meaning to post, but alas! i have been a slacker. I want to let everyone know that I am going to be at a craft show Saturday September 12th in Lower Sackville! It's called Vervain Fair, and a good craft show friend of mine is putting it on so it should be a good time. It's going to be the 1st of many that I will be doing this fall! I will post an update of the shows I'll be at once they are finalized but I am hoping to do at least 5! I am going to be very busy! :) I reallly want to post some new and exciting art projects I have been working on but I've been so busy working on them that I haven't photographed anything yet, but I will do that soon! promise!

car!

It's the weekend. So i actually have time to update this thing! So many exciting things have been going on lately. I've been trying out some really fun art projects when it comes to felting. I'm looking up information on needle felting now. I'm going to try it out tomorrow.
I've been trying really hard to save money but I'm finding it hard when i have to spend money on my car! Oh well. I should really look into getting some wind deflectors. I need to get one more part before I visit my grandmother in PEI in September though. I can't wait to see her, I'm so excited. There are just way too many things to be excited about these days! horray!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

wet felting!

I found the best website today. crunchyparent.com I watched a couple of her videos today on wet felting on making felt balls using wet felting and needle felting. I'm obsessed now. Good think tomorrow is pay day! I'm going to go down to the local yarn shop and buy a bunch of roving and give a go! I'm so excited. Has anyone does anything like this before? Comment!

work it out!

This past weekend was a lot of fun. We went down to the waterfront and watched the Buskers festival, it was really amazing. There were some incredible acts/shows! Today we went to Shakespeare by the Sea and watched a show, it was just such a beautiful afternoon~ This evening we went to the park and played basketball. I'm been really trying to be active. Walking around all day yesterday and playing 'ball' tonight is helping! I'm also taking up pilates, so i can't wait for that. I am a little nervous though. Make sure you check out reviews of places before you agree to anything especially taking meds. These are the best diet pills out there, so read the reviews! Don't be stupid :)

spiders, snakes and frogs oh my!

Today we invited Iceburg Exotics to come in and show us some animals. He brought in 2 snakes (pythons), trantula, pac man frog, turtle and lizard (savannah monitor), They were so cool to touch and hold. This photo is me holding an albino burmese python. It is only a yearish old, and it's already HUGE! It was really neat and the children loved them. I think the frog was my favourite, I would definitely have one of those for a pet~

whiskers on kitties

I'm SO going to start taking a pilates class. I'm so excited. And I even have a reliable friend to go with! I'm so excited - did I already mention that? Tabbouleh Tuesday? I'm trying to eat healthy and get in shape, i'm so proud of myself. I always found self-pride a very funny thing. Don't think i'm going to take weight loss pills or anything, but good they are out there for others. Check out the reviews first :)

love is in the air

A friend of mine from high school who I used to sit beside in guitar class is engaged as of Monday! I'm so happy for him because he really is the nicest guy. I guess nice guys don't always end up last! He is now a police officer where I live. I haven't met his finance but I'm sure she's a doll. He just bought a motorcycle and everything. Motorcycle's freak me out, but I'm happy for him for sure. motorcycle covers are always really great to have, especially here in the city. I like covering things up, maybe people won't steal them that way. I'd love to have a little scooter though. Those things are so awesome.

nature freak?

As much as I am in tuned with my culture and ways of technology (for example, blogging right now) I feel like more and more each and every day I am becoming more involved with nature. I want to be in nature all the time (which is difficult because i live in the city currently). I took this photo a month or two ago at a local park/trail that I love to visit. Ladyslippers are very rare around here but they are so beautiful when you do find them. I keep looking up online land to buy in the middle of nowhere, so I can dive into the forest and build a little cabin and spend my days crafting and reading. Oh what a joy that would be. I hope to accomplish this soon? Or at least before I die. 3 years soon enough?

insurance?

I feel like in highschool or somewhere in life people need to be taught "life skills". We had some classes that could have been fit in there but i just seem to learn life issues on my own, and usually make mistakes before learning about them (like interest rates, bills, etc.) Something that i also don't fully understand is insurance and how it works. I came across this insurance quote site, and it seems to have everything laid out nicely and clearly but i still find it hard to wrap my head around it. Nice that you can get quotes!

i love camping!

Lunneburg Wet Paint Sale was a success :) I sold a few sweet little paintings so I hope they made them safely to their new homes. I'm thinking about doing an art show this fall, but i'm not sure how to go about it. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to comment and tips and tricks! I'm excited that I'm going to have a 4 day weekend this weekend. I'm taking Friday off and I also have Monday off because here it is a holiday, which will be lovely. So i'm going to be doing lots of camping. I may take some paints down with me this weekend to do some painting but I'm not sure yet. It is a big hassle to carry them all with me.

tra lala

Of course this summer is whizzing by. It hasn't been the best summer - weather wise, but it has been decent. I've been trying to eat really healthy as well! I'm not too concerned about the whole lose fat type of thing BUT I am really trying to eat better and keep busy. Work has been busy so I feel like I get my exercise during the day but I know it's not enough. I'm craving ice cream right now and I want to get some but NO! I might be buying a cheap kayak, i'm so excited! I'll keep you posted on that!

Lunenburg Wet Paint Sale!

If you are going to be in Lunenburg this weekend don't forget to check out the wet paint sale that is happening in the town on Saturday and Sunday. It is a fundraiser for the Lunenburg Art Gallery and I'm going to be painting around the town and put my paintings up for auction! So go and bid bid bid! I haven't a clue what I'll be painting but it should be very exciting!! :)

move on

One thing that I don't envy people doing is long distance moving. Good things there are people out there who can help but still it's a pain. I feel like i may still have a lot of moving left in my lifetime. Hopefully not too much though. I keep getting these wild visions and dreams of going out and buying a huge building and turning it into a low cost art's centre. That would be so great. I even have a building in mind that has been vacant for a very long time. I guess we'll have to wait and see :)

Paint Mahone Bay

Paint Mahone Bay was a success. I hope they did well raising money for their museum. This was their 6th doing it but it was my 3rd year. This photo is of a basket they asked me to paint as a raffle draw. They asked three artist's to paint so I felt pretty special when they thought of me. I painted 4 on the weekend and those were all sold by the time I came around to pick up my stuff on Sunday. I'm happy about that. I decided to do smaller pieces this year. They were fun doing though. People are always so friendly when they would come up to me and see what I'm doing.

sales, clearance!

My favourite word is "clearance", my second favourite word is "sale" and my third favourite word is "wholesale". I love sales, and buying things at a low cost. I enjoy large stores that sell items at wholesale, like food, wholesale tvs, anything really. I don't visit them often, but I do like it, especially when I have something in mind I would like. Mind you most of my furniture was given to me or borrowed. I've really been looking for sales this summer. I had to spend a lot of money on my car this past weekend to get it back so i'm money frustrated right now. Things will start to look up soon

Paint Mahone Bay 2009!

I will be in Mahone Bay this weekend doing Paint Mahone Bay. I will have a variety of paintings for sale. Some have been previously done and some will be completed during the weekend! So come by and check it out. There are going to be artists painting all over town! This is my third year doing it, so it should be fun! I was also asked to paint a handmade basket for a raffle! So come and buy some tickets. The basket will be raffled off until December!

before you buy

I enjoy buying on the internet. I bought some leggings from a site on etsy and they are so comfy *i'm wearing a grey pair now*. I love that you can support handmade things but I am going to focus on selling locally throughout the end of the year. It's great that you can read reviews before you go buy something, especially if it costs a lot of money. It's crazy, before you buy diet pills you can read up on ones that are okay, and know how much money you could spend of the variety of ones. That goes not just for diet pills, but for lots of different items that you can find online. :)

The Forest Tells a Story

I can't even tell you how long ago it took me to do this painting. I think I started it in January/February ish? A girl I used to work with when I was working part-time and going to school in the valley asked me to do a painting for her. The only this she told me was something nature-y. That's all I had to go with. I knew of some previous stuff she liked of mine, so I did a style similar to those. I am pretty content on how it turned out. It's even gallery wrapped -ouulala~

netbook love

I'm thinking about buying a laptop? I found these netbooks, they are really interesting. They are like a laptop but super lightweight and small. Perfect for transporting around. That would be good for when i potentially go back to school? But that won't be for awhile. The netbooks are actually quite inexpensive too. You can get one for only a couple hundred dollars. That's pretty good; in my budget anyways.

Art night!

Ah! Art night tomorrow! I'm going to meet with some girl's tomorrow night at a local free trade cafe downtown. We are trying to meet once a month and try out different art mediums. Tomorrow we are going to try working with polymer clay. I want to try and make some pussy willows. I think that will be a cute decoration for my mantle. Another girl is going to make furniture for her daughter's dollhouse, which will be really cute. Not sure what the other girl will be trying out. Should be fun! Hopefully the cafe doesn't mind!

working out?

I've been really trying to "work out" and by "working out" i have been trying to go for a walk everyday. Since my car is broken :( I have been trying to walk home every nice day there is. I do keep active throughout my day at work anyways. But walking is making me happy, I feel like I'm actually helping my body out. I found some fat burner reviews here. These are pills that help. It's good to read up on this stuff before picking them out. I think it's safer that way.
I'm going to sign up for a pilates class. I didn't budget for it, but I'm going to go for it anyways. :) should be fun!

wowee

Wow. I’m being such a slacker. I haven’t written in awhile. I’ve been busy at work, and other workshops and the like. So I feel like I’ve been busy even though I feel like that’s almost a lie at the same time.

I feel like I need change in my life, like I need a new direction. I have ideas but don’t have the confidence to follow through with these things quite yet. I want time to pass so that I can save money for projects in my life. Even though I just got back from a mini vacation I feel like I need another one. I am letting too much stress get to me. I need a break. I should go and live in the woods. Haha. Troy would love that.

hump day!

I'm so excited that it's humpday - Wednesday! I have been trying to get a lot of little tedious tasks done this week. I've been trying to write up thank you cards for those you helped donated money to my trip. I actually found like I had so much energy when I was there - walking everywhere, just on the go all the time, and when I got back to felt so sluggish. I dont' want to get out of bed in the morning. Maybe I'm not eating healthy enough. That could be a problem. I do need appetite suppressants when it comes to chocolate and ice cream that's for sure! If it's in front of me, I can't contain myself. I'm going to try and work harder though, and start to really slack off on that stuff. We'll see!!! I'll have to keep a log or a journal or something.

summertime!

My baby girl Esme. I haven't posted a photo of my Esme-girl since I brought her home our first night. But she's seven months old (almost) now and I thought I would put a recent photo of her. While I was away in Africa Troy took her to get fixed, which was nice. I always have a specific vet that I like to go to but it's far from where I live so that was good. I'm still waiting to hear back from Naomi to see if she is coming here for the summer and what have you! :)

Rv camping!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go rv camping. It's too bad Troy works like crazy in the summertime or we could go on a little road trip, that would be wonderful. Maybe in the autumn I'm thinking. I have never been rv camping before, only tent and cabin type camping. I would love to go across Canada in an RV. Troy's brother and his family did that last summer, it must have been so amazing. Very expensive i'm sure, but worth every penny! Maybe in a few years...

Life!

I hate trying to figure out my life. Art is my life. Love is my life. I enjoy my job but I want to move back to my hometown to start a family so I don't know when and how this will all take place. I want to go back to school as well and take a Deaf studies course I just don't know when yet. So many things to think about. I'm hoping to finish up some paintings sometime soon! So I'll have photos of them up here. I have a few little projects on the go so we'll see :)

shop around

I'm 22. I feel younger yet older and people tell me that I'm an "old soul". I really do take that as a compliment. I don't need any wrinkle creams yet. I always come across websites that discuss and rate products. Here is a website for the best eye creams out there, prices, pros and cons. This day in age you really need to shop around and read up on reviews before spending a lot of money on something. It's ridiculous how over priced some things are these days. I always check out websites like these, even for movies and such. Maybe I'm too frugal!

camping!

It's almost the weekend and I'm so excited.

We have been going back to the camp every weekend so far this spring. I have to help my mom for a bit on Saturday but then I thin I'm going back to the camp that night. It's so nice and peaceful back there. I even made a fire all by myself last weekend. I was so proud of myself! It's a fun cheap way to spend the weekend. You can have fun but not spend a lot of money. We usually just take back a little bit of food stuffs and whatnot. I wish we could just leave food back there. But the mice will get in it and everything. I hope to do a lot of swimming this summer as well. At work we have been planning for some summer programming, and it's been great. I'm really looking forward to this summer!

travelling bug again and again

My co-worker just told me that she's saving up to go to the dominican! How exciting. I get so envious because I just want to keep travelling too~ A lot of people with children around here seem to go on Orlando vacations. When I was younger it seemed like that's where all my friends would go. There are a lot of games and amusement parks there for children. It defintely would be an interesting place to visit! I thought it would have been always fun to go, but that's okay, i'll wallow! I hopefully have my whole life to go travelling! I just have such an itch!

Naomi

My friend from Kenya, Naomi! May be coming to live with me this summer. I'm so excited. She has never been out of the country so Canada is a huge jump for sure. I think she'll find our North American culture very interesting. I have to go and fax some stuff for her visa right now. I really hope it works out. She wants to volunteer with the organization I work for. She studies Early Childhood Development at university in Nairobi so we have lots in common! :)

life circumstances

Life has been weird since I got back from Africa.
Africa seemed like a dream - like it didn't even happen. Like I didn't even go there. I only have pictures to look at and know for sure that yes - i was there.

I want to get in shape. Well better shape. I've been going to walks this week. I don't want to go to a gym or anything. I wouldn't mind starting to jog or bike. I've been reading about atro phex. I want to be organic and use no medications, but I'm glad that there is stuff like this out there for people who want to use meds to help them along. I'm growing herbs! I want to learn how to make herbal teas!!! So exciting. There are so many things I want to do. So many things I want to experience.

Back from Kenya

You may have noticed that I haven't written very much, and that's true. I was away in KENYA!! I returned April 27th, 2009, which was 2 weeks ago but i'm just finally getting myself settled into my regular routine. I volunteered at a primary school. It was really amazing. There were 20 volunteers from Canada, England, USA, Germany, Japan and Kenya. It was a huge cultural experience that's for sure. It's really put my life into a different (huge) perspective. Here are two photos from the trip. If you have me on facebook I have some photos on there as well.

sickness

I've been recently hearing more and more about mesothelioma. I guess it's the form of cancer that you can get when you have been exposed to asbestos. I know there have been many cases around here, but I'm not sure how many exactly. I know people get so freaked out when they hear about these things. I know the swine flu has been crazy lately and more and more people are getting diagnosed. I'm coming down with something - sore throat, cold? I'm not sure. I guess I should look up the symptoms of swine flu myself :S

Happy Birthday Troy!

Happy Birthday Troy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Troy (the boyfriend of almost 5 years) is celebrating his 23rd birthday today! So all the best to my beautiful "better half" as they say. We have been just recently started saving money for some wonderful projects that will hopefully happen within the next few years. One which is a house. Or a small cabin to get us started. :)

warm and sunny

I'm excited to bring out the patio furniture. Wait I don't have any - yet. But I am excited about be able to sit out in the sun and enjoy a nice warm day. It's 27degrees in Nairobi right now. I wonder if it will stay warm for my arrival. Hopefully I won't bring this bad weather along with me. it's actually a beautiful day today. So I can't go and be jinxing it. I think I'll go for a nice long walk tonight :)

Pottery class finished

Today was my last pottery class. It was so much fun - i'm sad that it was over. I want to take it again. So hopefully when I get back from my little adventure I'll be able to sign up and take it again. Here's my box that took me absolutely forever to make it it was so wonderful and I'm happy with the way that it turned out. I got a few more pieces back today. It's nice just to experiment. I don't take it too seriously. :)

changing seasons

I'm pretty lucky. I don't have any allergies. When I talk with people who do have allergies I always do think about how blessed I am. I don't have to worry about air machines, dehumidifiers, getting sick, watching what I eat or touch, seasons, nothing. My eyes get itchy and my skin freaks out when the seasons change a bit but it's nothing that I can't handle. I'm so excited about spring. I don't know if it was just me but I feel like this winter was particularly brutal. But I'm not sure.

travel backpack

So this weekend I went down to the Mountain Equipment Co-op and bought a travelback (see photo) a mattress pad, water bottle and some water purification tablets! I still need to much more for my trip thought. I was writing a list out yesterday - it's just a lot of little things like batteries, soap, journal, watch, etc. etc. a lot of things that any normal person would have but that i'm too cheap to buy. I don't even have a bathing suit (well i have one but it doesn't fit me it's like 6 years old). So anyways. My list that never ends! :) So exciting though :)

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

small technology

I've been looking online for some stuff for my trip. Trying to price out some things. I was looking for a new SD card for my camera so that I'll be able to take LOTS of photos and video. I came across this new micro sd. I'm guessing they are for the newer style cameras and phones! If I had something that small I'd probably use it. Soon we'll have computer that fit in the palm of our hands.. wait a second....

and here it is....!

My very first pottery piece!
I made a coil platter. It's so cute. When I first started making it I didn't like the way it was turning out. But I'm finding that with most of my pottery things that I can't just right away - I need to keep working at it and now! my final product! I really like the way that it turned out. It's very sweet. I have a few pieces that I'm going to finish up next week so I will have a few more little things! So exciting!

I love the office

I just finished watching season four of "The Office". I love it so much it's so funny. I liked the episode where Jan got some sort of lawyer like these guys:Lexington personal injury lawyer and tried to sue Dunder Mifflin. It was crazy. I think my fav. episode is "The dinner party". Too funny. I don't want a lot of shows but I l-o-v-e that one. I also like "The Amazing Race." I forgot to watch it last week and i remembered yesterday so I will watch it tonight :)

Camping

Last weekend Troy, Evan and myself went camping. It was cold - very cold but fun~ I plan on doing a lot of camping this summer! I am buying some new equipment for my trip and it will be stuff that I'll be able to use while camping as well. I took this picture while walking back to the camp last weekend.
I have my pottery class today! I'm very excited! I'm going to do some cleaning and painting too!

Friday, February 27, 2009

trip stuff

I'm working on a list of what I need to take for my trip. My co-workers are so adorable and they gave me a basket of things for my trip - like sunscreen, bug spray, lotions, etc. I need a few more things. I've been looking for some things online but I think Troy and I are going to go "downtown" tomorrow and look for a few more things. I'll check out prices and shop around a little bit. I DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME! ahh. This is so crazy. I need a really nice watch to take with me. I was looking at these Audemars Piguet. Some of them are really nice. I don't think I'd go for something that fancy. We'll see what I can find!

OUCH!

Yesterday I got FIVE SHOTS! Yellow fever, Vivaxim, Menactra, MMR and Polio! My arms ache. Well my left one hurts quite a lot - which had 3 shots in it. Crazy.

I had a hard time picking up the babies today!
My insurance will cover part of them. SO i need to send off some of my information soon so I can try and get a decent chunk of my money back! (So i can pay off my credit card!).

I have to get painting too. i've been a slacker. I have a few started so many over the weekend a bit I'll work on some and get some photos up to share!!

Thursday, February 19, 2009

i smell the love

I love pillar candles because they last me awhile. I don't like little candles because I go through them so quickly and I hate that! My sister gave me a huge candle at Christmas time and I still have a lot of it left. I always seem to get really expensive candles too - so I hate using them up! My mom always seems to give me really nice ones. I don't like putting out a lot of money but I guess she doesn't mind! And I don't mind that she doesn't mind! Confused yet?

travel backpacks?!

I'm looking up travel backpacks. Anyone know of decent ones...? I am looking on ebay. I think i'll end up getting on there because it will cost me half as much as buying one in a fancy store in the city.

I do have an ongoing list of things that I'm going to need to buy... like mosquito nets and things like that. March is approaching so I need to get my butt in gear~

take me out the game

I don't like sports. I just don't. I didn't grow up in a sport-zy type family. People are always going on about New York Yankees tickets and Hockey and all that jazz but I don't get it. I actually don't mind watching a game in person but to watch it on television - it doesn't do anything for me. I've gone and watched a few hockey games and they were always fun. Especially with friends who like to cheer and be silly.

I love the office!

I'm been so slack on this blog. I don't know why I feel like I've been extra busy these past two weeks. It was my best friends birthday on Tuesday! So I can't wait to see her tomorrow so that I can give her her birthday present. I made most of it. I love making gifts for people :) It makes me happy. I'm in the process of finishing some of it up now. :)

And I'm watched season 4 of "The Office". I've watched 8 episodes in 24 hours :|

watches

Something I do need to get for my trip is a nice watch. I checked out these Suunto watches but I'm just not sure what kind I want. I never wear watches ever but I want to get into the habit - but first I need to get one. I would like to have one for my trip since I don't plan on taking my cell phone with me. Knowing me I would loose it or it would get stolen. Maybe I should ask for one for my birthday?! I think that's a good idea

funny.

It's funny.

I've been going through some old posts and deleting some and I stopped to read some and it was really funny how hyper and happy I sound in them. And lately I feel so "blah". I don't know if it's just the weather, my body freaking out or stress for feeling this way lately.

Hopefully it will pass soon.

insurance

These days I'm pretty happy with my insurance that I have with work. I called them last week and they are going to cover a portion of my shots that I am getting for my trip to Kenya! This is going to cut that cost in half which is so wonderful! I don't think I am going to do another fundraiser. I'm just going to keep doing my paintings and see how far I get. I found this term life insurance here. It's pretty good!

It is done

Winter Craft Show! Done and Done!

Now I have mixed emotions about` the show. It was so much work but I would say it was worth it and I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome of it all. I definitely know how I would tweak it if I did another one in the future. But I think I was very organized and overall pulled it off!! It was a beautiful day and I did hope for a better turn out of customers to come through but you can't force them in. It was a windy day so it was hard to put up all the large posters. But Oh well~

Friday, January 30, 2009

planning

Craft show plans are underway!
Painting is underway!
Organizing is underway!

I basically have everything all planned out in my head i just have to do some shuffling of things - buying of things - picking up/dropping off. postering. The more I right the more i get overwhelmed! noo! I'm glad I don't have to do a truck rental. Work is going to let me borrow some chairs which is great. I will need his truck to go and pick stuff up from there next Friday. ahh!

Thursday, January 29, 2009

thursday~

It's almost the weekend! This week has had it's share of up's and down's that's for sure. I think Troy and I are going to try and pick out my new glasses tonight. I need him to tell me if I look stupid or not :)

I have a busy weekend ahead of me but! it will have everything more clear for the craft show - everything starting to come together. I have a lot more organizing to do. I have 20 people! Very exciting. I have to pick up the Coast today and see how my ad looks!

cheerio!

weird feelings

Check out these diet pill reviews before using anything. I know that I always check out stuff before putting it in my body! I've been trying to eat super healthy lately - you really do pay for it though. I bough granola and grapes today! Yummy! The grapes were on sale though - so that really helped. But usually it can be crazy expensive that's why I bought them! I love fruit. I love dragon fruit but that's even more crazy (expensive).

I felt so weird today. :S

Craft show!

Painting has been slow going these days!
I was overly busy last week so I didn't have much time but I hope to show some pictures by the end of the week of at least one that I plan to finish up!

Plans for the craft show are going well. I have 18 crafters -including myself- So i think it's going to be a nice crowd.

I do have to do more advertising for it though!

I'm going to try and make some HUGE posters on bristol board this week to post on poles the day of the show!

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Winter Craft Show in February!

Things are underway for the craft show that is in a couple of weeks! I have 16 crafters/trades persons signed up so far! I'm hoping to get just a couple more and then I will be set! Very exciting. Luckily I'm getting some help from friends and family during the event too so it should be lovely. I've been starting to get things together since I don't want to have to do it all at once the week before!

I need to start applying for my visa (tourist visa) but I have no idea how. Anyone out there who can point me in the right direction? Please!

The true meaning of by a thread

The true meaning of hanging by a thread
10 X 12 acrylic and ink on canvas.
Comissioned piece for my friend Jeremy.

I'm actually really satisfied with they way that this turned out. I'm still waiting to see what he thinks of it. He wanted at least one skull in it - so I think I accomplished that indefinitely. =]
It's been a lazy last couple of days. I slept in today and now I feel like I wasted my whole day away! I have plans to paint some more comissioned pieces! Everyone's been so good to me that way - asking me to do lots of paintings. That's my January plan for "fundraising" do some paintings and work on my etsy things. Dont' forget to check out my new pendants I've listed!

Happy New Year! 2009!

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a lovely night last night. I spent it at a friend's house - we played silly games and danced around to silly music. It was wonderful! :)

The weather has been absolutely CRAZY here. I don't know how much snow we have gotten in the last 24 hours but it's been incrediable. Troy and I had a snovel our way into the driveway when we got back this afternoon. It wasn't too bad though - not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I've been adding tons of pendants at my etsy shop these past few days - so go and check them out!
