how things work

Troy is always fixing things. I think he should fix things as a part time job! He loves to see how things work. I think he would make a great engineer. We have random things lying around the apartment most of the time, bolts, screws, tools, toggle switches, anything you can think of really. I think when we "settle down" (as they say) we'll have to have a little art room for me and a builder room for him!

Christmas happiness

Christmas has been lovely. People have gotten some nice gifts and I have spent some time with some great people. It's been nice to see strange gifts that people give and receive. I even saw mounts and everything! I got some cute useful things that I'm pleased about. I'm thinking about taking up some boxing day sales (here it doesn't start until tomorrow) - but i'm not sure about it yet. I really want to get myself a nice pair of running shoes. I'm obsessed with Jogging now. Let's see how long that lasts with winter and everything!

Coffee Sack Curtains

Friday, after work I drove over to Halifax to a local coffee roaster/cafe - The Java Blend. I sent out some e-mails last week looking for coffee sacks, so I could start making things out of them. My first project you can see on your left. They are wonderful curtains! I had yucky old blinds from when I moved into the apartment. I went to the store on Saturday and picked up the curtain rods, Troy helped me put them up and now I have my wonderful curtains that I made hanging. These are in my bedroom and I'm also in the process of making some for my art/sun room. They look so cute. I'm going to make some pillows as well. I'm not sure what else but curtains and pillows for sure so far!

train baby

Troy and I have been discussing a possible trip out across the country. I think maybe in 2011 we will take a train out there and fly back. We also debating, flying, driving the car or renting an rv. I didn't even realize that you'd need special rv insurance and everything. But I think going by train will be quite lovely and they even have special deals in the off season - which is when we would go anyways because of lawn care! Very exciting.

henna

I worked last Saturday at a local festival that celebrates and educates on the variety of holidays around this season. I was looking after the food table for Hanukkah. Beside my table was the Muslim Association and they were doing free henna designs so I got one done. I ask them where they bought the ink, so now I know where to find it and I think i'm going to go and buy some and practice some designs. I love henna, there is just something about it that I gravitate towards. It's very beautiful. My design is almost gone now though, so it stays on for about a week, depending.

life plans

I'm on vacation, and very excited. Well i have to work one day this week but other than that I'm scott free for almost 2 weeks. I will go back on Jan. 4. I've been really trying to plan out my life lately. It's extremely difficult. I practically have my whole wedding planned, wedding invitations and everything but this isn't that good considering i'm not even engaged! hahah. I guess it won't be a lot of work when I do get engaged though. I won't have any stress when it comes to that stuff. I have some exciting projects I'm working on. I'll post photos about it soon!

christmas troubles

Some people in my life are so extremely hard to shop for. But I stress myself out because I was so badly to find or make creative/unique gifts for people. I'm almost done my shopping and making things. I have a few more things to get together and buy/make then I'll be finished. I was thinking about getting some custom mugs for people this year, but I opted out on the idea. It's so tricky! We got a custom mug done for Troy's mom one year, with her dog's photo on it and she really enjoyed it. I don't know! Wish me luck (again)

the village emporium

Don't forget if you are down in the south shore that you stop by the Village Emporium and check out my little corner of goodies! I have some of my felted items (balls, acorns (earrings and ornaments), soap) as well as some of my hand painted pendants. They are all so exciting I don't know what to do with myself. I'm doing my write up for the website soon. I even have my own little spot on there so make sure you stop by and check that out as well! Wish me luck!

December!

I can't believe Christmas is less that 2 weeks away. I'm pretty much ready, but still have a bit more things to get here and there. Nothing major though. Last night was Troy's work Christmas party, I love free food and drinks! He has to work today which sucks, but that's okay. I've been pretty productive so far. I'm in the process of baking muffins, cooking chicken and cleaning.
I've recently been on a health kick. I'm really trying hard to eat healthy and exercise daily. I even have a little pedometer that measures how many steps I take per day! I joined an online health website to track how Im' doing as well. I hope I can keep it up! I always come across website like this weight loss austin website, it's good that information is out there. Troy and I are a BIT obsessed with Dr. Oz too! haha
